Those kittens are one of the illusions. That alien/statue was able to create/imitate different humans and animals, like this: keikakudoori.files.wordpress.cā¦ That alien usually picked people that are very close or very influential towards the person that asks.
Pretty sure it can make Merlock, Goth and other characters appear too.
