I thought you had to be a realists to be an artist! And so I created this painting! It took about a month, 8 hours a day to complete, as compared to my self portrait: "I Am" which only took about 3 hours! Well, I can probably paint another original of my: "Violin", No way in Hell could I reproduce my self portrait in 1983: " I Am".Related content

Saw this on recent deviations and was like "no way" ... well wow, you've made me shut up (actually it seems like I'm talking more). You don't have to be a realist to be an artist, but you sure as hell have to be an artist- a good one- to do something like this. I say the time was well spent! Everything about this painting is endearing to me. If I took the time to outline every little thing I liked about it, I think deviantART would break.

Also, post more! I think you should start with this "I Am" piece you mentioned.
