-----------IMPORTANT --------------I'll be taking a short hiatus this month. Got a pretty hectic few weeks coming up at work. Having an 8-5 job while doing art on the side has deprived me of everything else, most importantly: sleep. Plus, I've ordered and will be transitioning from PaintTool Sai to Clip Studio Paint, which I hope will be arriving in a week or so, and I'll focus on learning the program as fast as I can and give you all more RWBY goodness.

This is a sad one.
I wanted to do a darker strip which goes against my intention of a lighthearted series, but I feel like a lot of RWBY characters have untapped potential story-wise.
A few notes:
1. Working title was ScareQrow but I feel the tackiness takes away from the seriousness. The new one fits the theme and has numerous meanings.
2. Surprised to find out Qrow is actually a teacher for Signal Academy. THE Qrow. I'm scared for the students.
3. Ruby sporting her 'Slayer' costume. My favorite one.

the creator of RWBY stated that Ruby and Yang are half sisters and Qrow isn't Ruby's father but this was before he passed away so Rooster teeth might change it.

RasenganLucario , when Ruby, Yang, and even Qrow talk about how Taiyang loves Ruby and Summer....I find it hard to believe that Qrow could possibly be the lover to someone like Summer, so similar to Taiyang in personality....and considering Ruby has Taiyang's traits with people...
sorry, but the theory you speak of has been trashed at every single level...whatever you come up, it's easily dissected and turned to trash like the theory itself.

I really don't think it was just some Grimm that killed Summer, she had silver eyes and Salem's servants said they had dealt with that before. I think it was them that killed her, it really sounded like it was Watts and Hazel specifically (Cinder is too young to have been serving Salem at that time and Tyrion was unknown by Qrow so he must also be a relatively new servant).

I agree that the ship is a bad idea....but I'm more appalled that no matter what Rooster Teeth says, people refuse to accept that Taiyang is Ruby's father.

I don't think so. Ruby is daughter of Summer and Tai simply Ruby looks more like her mother. I don't know why the people insist in what Qrow is the father of Ruby.

It makes a certain kind of sense that Qrow is her father. As we learned in Season 4, the reason he stays far from others is because he is literally walking bad luck (great against enemies, not so great with friends or himself). This would be why he would distance himself from others to the best of his ability. (hypothetical incoming) Lets say after Raven left Tai with Yang (infant), he finds out Summer is pregnant (his child, Ruby). He knows he can't be around them (bad luck) so he gets Tai to do him a HUGE favor, take care of his child in his place.
Summer dying may also be the reason he drinks SO MUCH (alcoholism is common when a spouse dies; also really, HOW IS HE ALIVE!?!?). The reason he can't (won't) tell Ruby is because it would essentially DESTROY her, he afraid she'll hate him for doing this (and any how know keep their traps shut).

except that Qrow has been in multiple places where his semblance didn't harm anyone..
Taiyang Shut down upon Summer's death, and is extremely overprotective, where Qrow is/did neither...
So it makes more sense that Taiyang is Ruby's father...especially since Yang in V6 has said that Qrow's drunken state was worse than anything she's seen...meaning that Summer's death didn't cause Qrow to drink.

I think what would've been interesting is having the "bad luck" semblance come into play, and Qrow and Summer with little ruby on Qrow's back are fleeing, Summer TRIPS, Qrow goes back to get Summer, Summer just tells him to sotp, and then the "buy time" tidpit. Qrow hesitates, and lamentfully leaves her behind, but no knowing that Ruby, because of how he's holding her, sees her own mother dying while fighting grimm to buy time.
Idk that's just me though lol.

It's very difficult for me to tell a story when I only have 4 small panels to work with but yes, I always had Qrow's Semblance in mind while making this. He's very much convinced that he killed Summer and is never able to live it down. A lot more darker elements when I expand Qrow's story in the future.

Do you know "Tomo-Chan wa Onnanoko"? 4kama manga series that tells a story, but breaks up the story into multiple 4kamas. Of course, that is a comedy series, so it works for that.
Regardless, could always treat this like a preview for a full comic in the future xD

I wish I could, but every strip takes so much work and I don't want to be stuck in one idea for too long. I'll invest into longer arcs once I settle into a style that would make drawing these faster. I've got a bit of a perfectionist streak and it slows me down XD
