Description Took my parakeet Echo outside today for some pretty photos. (his wings are clipped so he cannot escape).

He seems to be finally getting used to the outdoors and being somewhere other than my room. He was having fun playing in our maple trees. Here, he's sitting in a Japanese Maple Tree

Wing clipping is sometimes necessary for some birds- though it is nicer for birds to be flighted (have the ability to fly) some households are just not suited for it.

I know I clipped my first budgie for a few months when I first got him, during that time he became tamer than any of my current flighted budgies and then I let his feathers grow out, since he was tame and could be called he could be let out a lot more around the house.

While I did have his wings clipped I frequently took him outside like this wee beauty Echo here, and I know he loved siting in the eucalyptus trees we have.

Wing clipping may not be 'natural' but it certainly isn't cruel (in most cases anyway)

I hope I've explained this well, it's quite hard with a such a controversial subject :/

I see... well I didn't really know they grow back. Finland doesn't really allow any kind of operations like that for any animal unless the reason is medical...

Fair enough- when you clip a budgie's 'wings' you are actually just snipping off the tips of the primary flight feathers, which eventually are shed naturally as the next set grow, if the practice meant they could never grow back their feathers I doubt anyone would do it
