They act however Xargas wants them to act. He controls them using gravity after all.
Meaning that even if you immobilize Xargas it really won't make a difference. He can still make himself and the blades move around in mid-air however he wants.

I was originally intending to give him a naginata, but I went with this instead. I liked the idea. It makes him useful in combat from a distance as well as close combat, and it can give him defense at the same times as he's offensive.

Well, this was the main idea of how he uses his weapons and his powers. This way they work both offensive and defensive at the same time.

But Ramxk also controls "darkness", because I doubt that he is as quick as Xargas.
