Description
It was sometime in late October last year that my cellphone beeped one lazy Sunday morning when I was still in bed. It was a message from a fellow bird photographer, who said "Ruddy Kingfisher has been spotted at the xxxxxxx Gardens. Come quick if you want to get it!!"Without further ado I sprang out of bed, grabbed a quick bite and my camera gear, flagged a cab down to the park, about 7 or 8 km away from my home. It was there that I had a close personal encounter with the breathtakingly beautiful Ruddy Kingfisher (Halcyon coromanda), a rare passage migrant to my country. Fortunately it hung around long enough for me to capture its beautiful ruddy orange-red plumage with a slight hint of purplish sheen. One of the most gorgeous kingfishers I have photographed so far!
Canon EOS 20D with 300mm f2.8L w/ 2x teleconverter, tripod mounted.
Fullview recommended.

Your photography is absolutely stunning. You should have at least 1,000 Fav's on every photo. Although I personally added several to my Fav's List, I narrowed my selections down to this photo as my "most" Favorite of all. Why, when all of them were equally brilliant? I think it's because I loved the toenails on his right foot
I love your photography because you allow me to see details as tiny as that!

Those are truly the most significant and memorable photo, the ones with a story behind the shot, the ones that took so much effort to win. Well done indeed

Awesome shot... incidentally, I was reading a magazine earlier where Andy Rousse (Forgot his exact spelling for his surname) was sharing his experience with shooting kingfishers in the UK.
