Description
EDIT: Now you can download this artworks to your mobile at [link]Some people were asking why they can't find artworks from my site here in dA gallery. It looks like I found a good solution to post them all with not flooding my devwatch friends with 39D
I was pixeling ZX-Spectrum artworks since 1997. Most of this artworks were taking part in demoscene competitions. It was really great to be a part of ZX-Spectrum demoscene. But I think it's time to turn the page.
Joining mobile game market and learning not that limited styles of pixelart I've decided to set some bold DOT: .
All this artworks were made using Art Studio or Burial GFX Editor, some recent artworks made with Photoshop. All this artworks made with EGA pallete (16 colors). Every 8x8 pixels cell have only 2 colors.
Sorted in order of appearence. Newer is higher.
Description for every single artwirk could be found here: [link]
Thanks for looking

NO WAY dude.
You make it look like you've used tons of colours when in fact its totally not the case.
Second one on the top looks particularly insane. The shadows are incredible.
You're definetely a whole bundle of patience.

Man, I remember seeing many of these the first time I came across your website (quite a long time ago, hehe) and going "whoa!" while looking at them. It's really nice to see you putting a compilation of them here. It's also interesting to see how much you have progressed at making them. Good job!

Wow. You can really see how much you've improved from some of them, yet the majority is still amazing!
That one of yours with the butterfly and the boots has always amazed me. ^_^

this really shows how your art can be seen as full art, I always love how you play with the digital medium to produce strange and really personal imagery. Nice collection, I love them all, especially the green yelling face.

Great, bloody fantastic stuff!
I have seen most of your stuff, but this one I am going to fav.
I love basically all of these, some you can tell are very old though, I mean just the way they were pixelated back then in comparison to now is such a big difference, the improvement is unbelievable.
Very good works, and a very good idea to. Of course, i couldn't actually do that because my works are all to f**king big and are all at different sizes, this one sort of reminds me of: [link] - apparently made with only a keyboard, I probably couldn't even do that with a mouse - but i never tried before so I am not sure until I do... but i don't know if that will ever happen I will just stick to iso and such.
Great work! +fav
Cheers

Yeah! Since I saw that summary by * pickassoreborn I immediately decided to create the same to close that ZX-Spectrum book
Thanks a lot for your kind words and putting this summary to your favourites. Very appreciated, Callan!
Thank you!
ps. Btw, only some of the recent works were made with mouse. All the rest were made using keyboard as well

I wonder where will you find a gfx editor that can work with no mouse. I was using 6,7,8,9,0 keys to move and set points

Whee, those are so cool! My favorites are the cat getting a bath, the ship, and the snowman. How long does it usually take you to draw out pictures like these?

gas13 In reply to SomethingEternal [2004-04-25 21:56:30 +0000 UTC]
It was taken me from 1-2 days to some weeks. The ship was one of the hardest works.
Thank you!

Awesome stuff. I think that winter cabin scene was the very first work I saw from you. I'm still wondering why DeviantART hasn't added a gallery for "retro computer art".

Someone was promising you to add that category? Have $dygel answered?

diamondie In reply to gas13 [2004-04-25 22:11:27 +0000 UTC]
No, they haven't answered anything at all, not $dygel even. I think you should try to pressure them, you actually have some (excellent!) works to show. I don't know how many "oldskool artists" there are besides you and ~dbug who makes graphics on the Oric, I seem to recall seeing some C64 graphics. But perhaps I haven't seen any because I don't have a gallery to go looking in!

I remember the Speccy from back in the day - several of my mates had them. I was more interested in the BBC Micro, as that was what we had in the computer lab at school, and you could get some pretty decent graphics and sound from it if you knew what you were doing...
That two-colours-per-8x8-block limit must have been quite a challenge... well done!
