Description
This is The Watchman and he is my newest project. I really want to get something started with sequential art and story telling, so I have been playing around with a character idea that I would not get bored of too quickly. The Watchman is the final product of my labors and his backstory is still being written as well as all the minor details, but expect most of my artwork in the future to revolve around him and his story. Sit back relax, and enjoy the ride folks, it's going to be a fun one!EDIT: I changed the hourglass to get away from the black widow feel, thanks

I used to toy around with a timepiece ninja called Watchman as well, only my version was a teenage boy from Switzerland
I don't think I've ever made a single design picture whatsoever.

first of all very cool drawing (you know I'm a fan of your work!)
two things - one already mentioned is that the symbol is the same as Black Widows and the second is that he looks quite similar to the redesigned Night Thrasher from Marvels New Warriors.
But the pic itself i do like - the hand holding the watch is very cool.

Thanks man, I was just given an idea that may steer people away from the black widow idea. So more to come on an ever evolving idea. I love the idea of a helmet/mask for this character but wasn't intending to copy Night Thrasher. It's hard to come up with characters that people won't say, "he looks like so and so, or she looks like this character..." It's a never ending struggle, but what can you do? Thanks for the critique buddy!

hey trust me i totally hear you on the point of designing a character people wont find something unoriginal about. but dont get me wrong i do like the overall design. Cant wait to see the next evolution of Watchman.

Very nice design. I can see how some people could be put off with the name or symbol, but I'm not a big fan of any current "Watch/Hour Man" characters, so maybe this will bring me around.
As for the red on black chest/head symbol, yeah the color scheme does make me think of a black widow, instantly, but when people describe the black widow, they refer to "the red hour glass" symbol, so in my logic, the widow stole the symbol first... if that makes any sense.
Maybe now, when people see a black widow, they will automatically have to urge to check the time or something. Good for Watchman for taking it back.

The Watchman. There have not been alot of characters created over the last 15-20 years that I've really been interested in just based on seeing a picture of them. But this I like. I really like this. Maybe it's the costume. Very cool helmet/mask combo.
No. It's the pose. The tilt of his head. The look in his eye. The way he's putting the pocket watch out for you to see. Yeah. That's exactly it.

Ooh. I like that, too. Don't know if you have a tag line for him yet, but it's yours if you want it. (And if you need a writer, send me a note. I got samples of stuff that'll curl yer ear hairs!)

Your time is up was actually part of the original drawing, but I took it out for a darker look. I may use this pic as a cover with that tagline!
I may need help in writing or at least plotting as I have never really done it before. I'm gonna give it a shot and I may hit you up for co-writer stuff!

Ya know, there was a comic called The Watchmen...that was pretty well known. Also, does not HOURMAN use the hourglass image on his costume?
