Description Another gaming series gets the blackwork treatment!

I have never played Assassin's Creed and seeing as I am not a fan of the genre, it's unlikely I will. That said, I felt the logo would make a good cross-stitch pattern - and I have done a pattern for that!

A cross-stitch pattern is never enough for me so I went about charting a blackwork pattern as well!

It is stitched on 14-HPI vintage cream aida using DMC colour variation shade #4200.

It took me two weeks to complete

Awesome work! I saw this on your website and had to come comment and fave it. I've been itching to do an Assassin's Creed logo for awhile and this is beautiful.

Thanks, I'm glad you like it.

I like the way this turned out and it was fairly quick and easy to stitch too!

Is there any special way to do blackwork? I've heard there is but I've also heard it is just backstitches.

Not really.

There are indeed two ways to work blackwork. The old stytle is known as double runnning or 'Holbein' stitch and when worked correctly the work is reversible.

I just use backstitch, which I find much easier.

If you want to give blackwork a go, this is good website to check out (it has freebies too): [link]

There are lots of other useful sites and blogs too - just google them!

Hope this is useful for you! xx

No worries!

There's plenty of designs out there that are perfect for beginners, and of course you could try one of the blackwork patterns from my site .. the Seahorse is a good one to start with

Have fun, and if you stitch something, I'd love to see it! xxx

This looks great, it looks fantastic as blackwork, really stylish.

Thanks for shaing the pattern for this by the way. Dave's been playing Assassin's Creed (Brotherhood) quite a bit lately and the more I saw the assassin symbol the more I thought it'd make a nice cross stitch picture but I'd not got around to making a pattern yet. I've added this to my list of things I want to stitch, although I've not decided if I'll do the blackwork version or the cross stitch version. I'll probably ask Dave which he likes best. ^_^

Dave's said he'd like me to stitch it for him and has decided he'd like the cross stitch version. I'm thinking I might have a look through all of my different coloured aida and see if I can make an interesting aida and thread colour combination that'd look nice. Otherwise I'll probably go for red on white.

My son and hubby love aasassin's creed. I think it looks cool but they both said the top needs to be darker--but what do they know???? LOL

Tch -- men

My brother is a big fan too and he loved this when I showed it to him last night!

I'm not sure what they mean by the top needing to be darker! I don't know whether it's because of the way I photographed this or the fact that I used varigated thread.

Anyway, the pattern for this is on my website as well as a cross-stitch version too!

I think what they meant by darker is that the original logo in the game is solid black, so they were probably saying that your stitching pattern has too much uncovered space & needs to be filled in more to give it a more solid look... personally I find the design interesting

Yeah, that's what I figured too - the logo tend to be black (sometimes red). I did do a cross-stitch chart for my website because I realised that not everyone likes blackwork.

I'm always experimenting with my stitching, which is why I chose the colour I did and I wanted to see what it would look like without a border.

I really like how it turned out in the end, and I'm glad you like it too!

It could be just the photograph making it look lighter then it really is.

Probably, it was too big for the scanner and the light wasn't that good when I took the photo!

If you decide to stitch it, you could always use a darker colour. I'd not used that shade on any of my projects yet and thought it looked nice, but the other dark red shade #4210 or even dark blue #4240 would make good substitutes!
