Today, StarWarsShop launches the fourth piece in its limited 12-part The Empire Strikes Back 30th Anniversary Artwork Collection, a haunting image of Emperor Palpatine from his first appearance in the Star Wars saga by artist Cat Staggs.
While we never actually see the Emperor in a physical setting in The Empire Strikes Back (he only appears as a hologram), Staggs has envisioned the scene as it takes place within the Emperor's chambers on Coruscant, a locale that movie-goers had not yet been introduced to when Empire was released in 1980.

Oh man, that is kick ass! Terrific idea, beautiful execution...it really is very spooky and the color palette is awesome... I wish he actually looked that cool in Empire...ever since they tweaked that scene for DVD, I can't get past how polished the Emperor hologram looks...and McDiarmid has that fat face EP3 makeup on.
