Rio Blast was released in '86. Bravestarr ran from '87 to '88. But, since both toys were made by Mattel and both cartoons were made by Filmation, I'd say that there's a good chance that they were conceptualized at least simultaneously, if not back to back. If I had to guess, I'd say Rio Blast was a Bravestarr prototype.
So yeah, he's probably a Bravestarr reject, technically. But he still rules

i too owned a figure of this guy! it was awesome how you could flip his chest and thighs are reveal guns! Not to mention the ones on his wrists and back!
He's like Warmachine of MOTU!

Haha I remember this guy. I think I even owned him at one point...Ahh those were the days. He-man and Transformers...god I miss the 80's.
