Two clans of Yautja were given hunting rights for the planet LV-742 by the Council of Ancients. What neither team knew was that this was part of a test being conducted by the Ancients to see which clan was worthy to become their successors. Each clan was to send three of their most elite warriors to hunt the legendary creature known as the Gro'Tye. Failure was to mean banishment for the Yautja participating. While during the hunt, both hunting parties encountered each other. A brawl ensued but the fight was interrupted by the human Colonial Marines. At first, the human soldiers had served as a warm up for the trial but were now starting to become a problem. Not only that, but the human scientists were trying to obtain specimens of the Kiande Amedha, the Xenomorphs.

The Council of Ancients revealed themselves to the rivaling clans and explained the nature of the trial. Since both parties had each managed to kill a Gro'Tye, both were ready to progress to the next. Aside from searching for successors, the Ancients had been monitoring the humans' activities on the planet and knew they had discovered a dormant Xenomorph hive. Such an opportunity to hunt both human warriors and the Kiande Amedha, the most deadly organism in the known universe, was too rare and too tempting of an opportunity to let pass by.

The second trial was the Trial of Stealth. Each hunting party was to break into separate Colonial Marine bases on LV-742 and to retrieve the skull of an officer without being detected once. If successful, they were to advance to the next trial, the Trial of Bravery. The dormant Xenomorph hive was starting to become active again as more and more colonists were being abducted. While the Hive was still small, the hunting parties were to enter and claim the coveted trophies of Xenomorph skulls.

But the Predators were met with resistance from both the Xenomorphs and the Colonial Marines sent to destroy the hive. In the skirmish, the Hive was destroyed but the few surviving specimens were taken to Dr. Kadinsky's laboratory for testing. The marines were now also targeting the Predators, seeking to eliminate them so that they could not interfere with Weyland-Yutani's plans for the Xenomorph. To further complicate matters, one of the Predators had been taken captive and also brought to Kadinsky's facility, risking the chance that the humans would unlock the secrets of Yautja technology.

This insult could not be ignored. The captive Yautja had to be killed to preserve his honor, his stolen gear had to be recovered, and Dr. Kadinski had to be punished for this trespass. The remaining members of both hunting parties joined forces to infiltrate the facility, the trials nearly being forgotten. Though they were from rival clans, their entire race's honor was at stake.

  But once they discovered their fallen brother, he was already dead. Dr. Kadinsky had performed the ultimate sacrilege against the Yautja and had created an Abomination, the PredAlien. During the chaos of the break in, the cells containing the Xenomorphs were opened, allowing them to run free. The Abomination had to be found and destroyed, but in the meantime, Kadinsky would pay for his sins.

  Vanguard is not only the leader of the hunting party, he's also the Clan Leader. He would be a Berserker class in Predator Hunting Grounds. The Vanguard unit in Aliens Versus Predator: Extinction are heavily armored and use a Plasma Scythe. Here, I interpreted it as a khopesh, an Egyptian sickle sword. Though a Berserker, he's more experienced than Brawler and thus more patient in his hunting technique. He stands at 7'6".
  Instead of delegating the responsibility of participating in trials, Vanguard took it upon himself, living up to his name of "Vanguard." I made him the Clan Leader because a Vanguard is labeled as a Clan Leader in one of the Alien campaign missions. Vanguard units are slow but deal heavy damage. To reflect this, I imagine him being like a Slasher film villain, slowly marching up to his human prey, towering over them menacingly before finishing them off. When Spear Master is captured, he again leads the charge to break into Kadinsky's laboratory to avenge his fallen comrade.

  Spear Master is a Scout class from Hunting Grounds. I made him a Scout class because Spear Masters actually don't have armor. True to his name, he uses various spears and pole-arms, but his favorite is the glaive. The Spear Master units have interesting lore in Extinction, each Spear Master having to go through a rite of passage. In line with this backstory, Spear Master as a Young Blood traveled into harsh deserts of Yautja Prime to hunt a Vy'drach, a creature resembling the Phoenix from Earth legends, while only armed with a spear. Upon killing the Vy'drach, he fashioned his armor out of its remains. This is why I also based his design on the Ritual Armor from Predator: Concrete Jungle. He stands at 7'3".
Within his clan, Spear Master is a highly respected Elite. Very few have managed to successfully hunt the elusive Vy'drach, for great accuracy is needed to strike the weak spot in the beast's armor. This is why he was chosen by Vanguard to join him in the trials. But despite his skill, Spear Master is captured by the Colonial Marines during the last trial and is handed over to Kadinsky to be used in his Xenomorph experiments. By the time the other Predators break into the facility, Spear Master is already dead, having been the host for the PredAlien. I had Spear Master be the one to be captured, because it was a Spear Master that was captured in the video game.

  Disc Master is based on the Disc Master unit from Extinction and would be a Hunter class in Hunting Grounds. Out of all the Predators in this story, I figured at least one of them needed to have the classic Jungle Hunter design. But I kept the skull trophies they have mounted on their shoulders from the game. For his ranged weaponry, he uses multiple Smart Discs at once. He stands at 7'2".
  It's mentioned in the lore of the game that Disc Masters have to be very intelligent and focused to control all of the discs at the same time. His greatest strength comes from his ability to face multiple targets at once. He goes into a zen-like state as he juggles the flying metal circles of death, almost like a conductor directing music. Vanguard chose him to join in the trial for his focus and ability to attack multiple targets at once.
