Yeah... obvious title is obvious.I dunno.
I didn't wanna be too creative with this one. The airbrushing alone gave me cramp.
So I drew this last week?
At the convention... I wasn't even tabling. Just helpin out with my wife's thing.
Anyhoo.
She left me alone and I felt the need to start sketching.
One dude said he wanted to keep it... that's a big compliment, but I wanted to scan it and use it in a later chapter of the comic. Then my wife's teacher, and a profesional comic book penciler and inker said he was impressed. He saw me draw a horse once and tore it to pieces, but he like my dinosaur.
So I must have done something right... though he was looking at it upside down.
but it's nice to get some good feedback from conventioneers for once.
So I coloured this in photoshop, the only "effect" I used was an overlay of this texture> [link]
Otherwise it was pretty much all standard brush sets and my mouse.

This is a totally sweet picture. I especially enjoy the coloring. It's simple but it fits.

Thanks... I didn't wanna go overboard on the background as I felt it would detract from the action in the foreground. But my comic style isn't "simple" so maybe simpler colours lend better to all the shading and texturing I do with ballpoint and pencil in the foreground as well.

I think you need to find the motivation to pick up the story again before you change the style. Coloring is moot if there's nothing being produced.

No... not harsh.
Yeah I need to GET to the bit where Jasper fixes his eyes before I get some colour in there. But yeah I need to get my motivation back, and drawing these pictures of things I wanna do with the story is inspiring me of what I'm driving at.
Like how some people have a moodboard/moodwall of sketches and stuff that "feel" like the story to be told, I need to compile a wall of pictures that inspire me to draw the rest of book one and start on book two with a fresh clear goal in mind.

Tis quite a story behind a cool piece like this. I think it looks pretty cool myself, and I can see this so very well in his character for some reason too.

You mean it's something not totally out of charecter with Gaz's reputation for being resourceful?
Or that rustling a dinosaur into a bridle?
I was trying to think "where would Gaz get one of those?"
And then I thought maybe he'd use his belt and lash it around either end of his sword... but I didn't draw it that way, it only just occured to me. So when I come to it in the comic I may have Gaz use that method. But for now it just looks like he bought it at the store.

Very correct there! And, yeah, I can still see him trying this out and using what resources he can. You do make a good point on the bridle, though...heh, don't know what all to say on it.

Catfish as pets? Maybe to some but, around my neck of the woods, that's a fish for the plate, not the bowl.

How strange... we had a catfish in the aquarium back home... he was an ugly lil bugger with one eye but I don't like fish; taste, smell... no, I feel better that they live as pets than as an entree. My dog smells funky, can't imagine he'd smell any better in the oven. lol

Heheheh, I like fish, I admit, but not all types. Regular ol' fish sticks or a fish patty or something will do; not really one for lobster or crab or the such.
