I have a technical question for you. How did you get the framing elements so consistent? I was thinking they were printouts of some sort, but the fact that they overlap the circle at different points tends to contradict that option. Unless only the name ribbon, logo, and corner elements are printed? The other idea I had was traced on a light table.
Any info you can share would be much appreciated.

The cards were drawn as thumbnails first, then scanned. I then created a clean version of the border, and then transferred each of the initial character sketches onto the template, and then light boxed the finished layouts onto the blank cards, where I did the final clean pencils and inks, so each border on the card still has differences. The whole process, thumbnails and pencils, will be in the Rough Draft Ultimatum sketchbook.

I suspected there might be a lightbox involved, thank you

It's definitely one of the tools most traditional artists use, if not a projector or some way of method of transferring roughs / thumbnails to the final piece.

I've used them, but I usually just go start to finish on the same piece of paper. Still, something to look into.

Well, only look into it if it's a tool you really think you'd need. You seem to be more of a digital-colorist, so it not be necessary. Since I'm traditional-only at the moment, it's a vital tool if there are compositions need consistency, and to have a backup/transfer option in the event of any errors/mistakes. It's just a tool, based on your purpose. If I could get my hands on a Cintiq and got into digital coloring, I know I wouldn't be really using as many traditional tools as I do now!

At this point if I got one, it would be a cheap one. And I do have a clear clipboard, just in case.

Curious to know what the design aesthetic of the cards is called with the vignetted frame effect and the ribbons! Splendid work!

Thanks! The design/layout is heavily based on/inspired by the Bioshock and Bioshock 2 trophies/achievements

Great stuff, wouldnt have minded if you skipped Atlas tho, he was pretty much the only bad thing in the first game.

What pens do you use? I've been trying for ages to get the clarity and depth you have on your work but never get to be able to reach the same level.
tl;dr, what pens do you use for inking?

Since he's not really a character as much as a device for the FPS format, the story really following the same suit as most other next-gen platform games, wherein the first 'goal' is eliminated and the gameplay extended because the protagonist has been backstabbed and has new revelations, and now there's a new true boss. It's gotten pretty textbook - even the Warhammer game, Dead Space, even the AvP Marine campaign..
Sorry.. kinda strayed .. *but* Jack is on Andrew Ryan's card

Likely it has to do with the fact that Jack is meant to represent the player, yet he's not a lead game character in the same vein as, say, Shepard or Etzio and so on. Strangely, he's the least popular character despite being so critical to the plot. He has, perhaps, four lines in the entire game. Usually when folks want art for the game, they want the big players. However, since this is the first set of 9 (says so in the description), good chance gb will save Jack for last. Personally, I'm hoping for Tenenbaum in the next set. That's one Hot Nazi damaged scientist

It's just this set of 9 Tho I am considering a 'Cult of Rapture' set of the multiplayer characters with more Rapture backdrops like Point Prometheus and Neptune's Bounty

Oh those would be cool! Will you do cards for minor characters like Tenenbaum, Sinclair, and Steinman?

I'm definitely looking forward to it - I just really hope the story/characters don't make it a groan-fest like Grace Holloway's constant race card in Pauper's Drop XD

But you are right, it was hard to decide who made the cut, like Gil Alexander in the tank, Sinclair and Dr Steinman
