Hi!
I found this work by accident when I browsed through the galleries. And I must say, first it didn't catch my eyes very much. But when I looked closer, I started to love it!
One thing I really like about this is the light. Usually I'm not a huge fan of hard lighting, but this one is excellent. I love the way the shadows make this work look mysterious and special. It gives an overall interesting feeling and catches the watcher's eyes at once.
A second thing I like is the focus. The foreground and the background are blurred, so the clock (means the most important parts of the clock) pops out very nicely. Maybe you could have been a bit more precisely concerning the numbers. They are not the sharpest part, but they should be (in my opinion ^^).
The colors are very pretty too. The old, vintage purple works perfectly for this. Did you try other color schemes? Maybe a nice warm glow of yellow, brown and orange would look nice too. I think it would be really interesting to play around with the colors e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="

All in all the composition is nothing special. A simple sqaure, following (mostly) the rules of third... Maybe you could have played a bit with the overall composition. I don't know how you shot it, but a non-square with the clock in one edge would look interesting too. Of course a "normal composed" image is always more comfortable for the watchers. But in a way, it loses its special touch. I'm not sure how to explain this the right way e.deviantart.net/emoticons/a/a… " width="19" height="19" alt="
" title="Sweating a little..."/> What I mean: The topic/subject (means the clock) is beautiful, but not special. So it is the turn of the photographer to make it look unique, if you understand what I mean ^^ I don't want to critizise the way you composed the image now, I'm just saying it could have looked interesting when you tried to break the rules.
Soooo... (I wrote too much again, sorry ^^) My conclusion: I love the subject - I'm really a fan of old, pretty, vintage things - although it's not the most creative one. I love the colors and the way you presented the clock in this still life. My one and only real "critique" is that you should be more courageous when it comes to composition, colors and overall presentation. Try different things that make you stand out of the crowd of still life photographers! It's nothing bad about following the traditional rules, but what really makes you different is your own style, your kind of "brand". It's hard to find, but I think you are on a good way e.deviantart.net/emoticons/h/h… " width="38" height="15" alt="

All in all I really really love this shot! You captured the overall feeling very very nice and intense... That is what makes it a wonderful photograph e.deviantart.net/emoticons/h/h… " width="15" height="13" alt="

(Haha, excuse my long comment on this... I really like it and wanted to express my opinion... pretty detailed as it seems ^^)

Thank you so much for your critique. !!
So, i'm really happy that you liked this photo, actually I had doubts, of submitting it to dA. (as always)
I do know that this isn't a creative picture and that the coloures aren't the best as well. I have to change that. Maybe I should download a better photoshop too, I am using Photoescape and it's not the best one. But this is not an excuse, I think that really art comes, when you do the best as you can, with your own possibilities. : )
I really liked what you said of that a photographer has to make his composition unique... I will do that, well, I will try to do that. I have to find my own style. Thanks!
So your critique was VERY helpful for me,
Nochmals vielen Dank ! !!

Awww you're very welcome I am always glad I can help!
And just to underline my thoughts again: I really like what you did with the photograph! It's not always about the software you use. (By the way: Did you try gimp? It's free and has the same functions like photoshop. Soooo in case you just wanna try and don't buy directly, this would be my advise. Even though I think PS is better than everything else I tried to far )
You are on a very good way and I really hope to see more like this from you soon

Hey!
So, here's my critique.
You chose a beautiful subject to take a picture of and it's very pretty.
But there are several things that disturb me.. First: the lightning. You used a lightning or a lamp that has a hard light. You can see that in the shadow behind the clock. Second: The colors. It's a mix of blue and red which makes the clock not stand in the foreground, because it does not stand out. You could have put it into a non-square and maybe use the rule of thirds. But that is no must, rules are existent to be broken. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/a/a… " width="15" height="15" alt="
" title="Aww"/>
Also, I would take care of the focus. For me, it seems as if there is no precise focus (I'm a bit sensible concerning focusing.. I'm sorry for that.)
All in all, a nice deviation.
Keep up your work.

Thank you for your opinion, I really appreciate it.
Now I see I could change a lot of things. I will try to do it better next time.
For example the light, It's sun light, and I didn't knew how to do it in order that it isn't so hard.
I will put a similar one, If you like, you could tell me again what you like and what you don't.
Danke : ) !
