Description
I always thought the concept of the gem monsters in Steven Universe was really cool and I hope to learn more about it as new episodes are released. The fact that the gem monsters were once regular gems in intriguing and makes me wonder what happened to them and how they could be fixed. Lapis Lazuli's gem was cracked, but she didn't turn into a monster, so it's not merely cracking that causes the change. If it's not alteration to the gemstone itself, then what is it and what determines the appearance of the monster as opposed to the gem they used to be?

Anyway, I wanted to draw a gem monster version of Peridot seeing as she's my favorite character from the show and I thought there would be a lot of potential with her colors and design. I also drew a lot of inspiration from the appearance ravenous crystal lizards in Dark Souls III.
