Description Colour names are incredibly subjective. There is no set value assigned to a given name. And multiple names can describe the same shade. But sometimes you don't care about the variability of human experience. You just want an idea of what to call the colour you're looking at. I've got your back!

This colour wheel displays a wide range of shades and tones, and tells you common* names for them.

Most colour names are from THIS xkcd survey. Additional results from THIS set of online colour dictionaries, wikipedia, stuff I've saved to my computer, and random googling.

See the RGB wheel www.deviantart.com/geckobot/ar… .

*People are annoyingly uneven about what colours deserve names. There's a small area of light-ish purple shades that have a half dozen different names. But most purple is just called 'purple'? I've tried to used names that real people (not paint companies) might recognize. Preference was given for names with a longer history. And I've tried REALLY hard not to use names for colours that don't actually match, even if the name is quite common and the matching colour isn't actually ON the wheel.** Still, I made a few questionable choices to fill large empty spaces.***Β

**This wheel doesn't include any shades of gray. Many colours, like 'slate' or 'sage' have a certain amount of gray.

***Still trying to fill the last spaces. There may not BE names. Anyone got any ideas?
