1, it seemed too easy. For the tall things to just wrap Sandy up in vines instead of showing her or telling her stuff that she should legitimately resent Ria for. (Though in the revised pages, I still didn't do a good job of that, but I have an idea of how I can make it even more believable after I remake chapter 4.)

2, I couldn't figure out how Ria could free her without having the tall things do it themselves, which just wouldn't make sense and would be too easy a solution.

I have a few more reasons for changing it, but I think these are sufficient enough.

I had it in english on this page on a whim because i suddenly got the idea for those words and they made it feel much more powerful (and understandable). i kind of want to go back and "translate" what the they said earlier.  I might do that for the printed version. Just some of it, though, since i only have a vague idea of how to put what they said into actual words. And some parts feel more strong when it's in tree-talk. (the last panel of page 10)

I imagine the tree-talk to sound like a loud, low, gargling hum. Almost like a very big cat purr, but sort of buggy or froggy...

Ah... I think I understand. Some parts of tree-talk will be translated or left as "gibberish" depending on which way will be more interesting from storytelling point of view. Is that right?

Another question: are these parts going to be translated solely for the benefit of us, readers, or are they going to be understandable for characters of your comic other than Sandy? For example, if Ria was to walk in on that scene, would she be able to hear English words "Don't go. We love you." or would it sound like gibberish to her, like the rest of tree-talk?

Yeah.

And I haven't actually decided on that yet, but I think Ria would not be able to understand what they're saying, as long as it's in that archaic-looking writing...

If I don't translate the gibberish parts, then you can assume people like Ria could hear the garbled english on this page. But if I do, then all of it is gibberish to everyone but Sandy. For now, I think I'd want to suggest the former possibility (that Ria can kind of understand them here, but not on the earlier pages)

I think it would work too (the former possibility, that is). It would make sense for Tall Things to know how to speak in English, even though they might prefer to use their own language most of the time. After all, they've spent a lot of time with Sandy, so they had the opportunity to learn from her.
