Earth-chan is everything from adorable to really, really sad. It's weird how we can draw courage, inspiration, and confidence from an anime-based anthropomorphized planet.

To be fair, if someone can make bread bleeding out and make it adorableΒ still this is still in the realmΒ of possibilities....how the hell isΒ this not an anime?

I don't get why anyone get's angry that Pluto isn't classified as a planet. If it were, then we'd have thousands of planets. It's not like Pluto doesn't exist anymore.

It's mostly a joke for me. I like to think Pluchan is grandfathered in to the name. I totally understand the new classification.

Exactly. Besides, everyone loves Pluto, especially now that we've seen its love heart.

Pluto is still a planet, that's just a misconception that it's not. It's a dwarf planet, a tiny planet. Calling it not a planet would be like calling a small person not a person.Β

Anzac-A1 In reply to Hazop131 [2017-12-27 08:45:23 +0000 UTC]
Pluto is no longer designated a planet. It is a dwarf planet, which is defined as "aΒ planetary-mass object Β that is neither aΒ planet Β nor aΒ natural satellite . That is, it is in direct orbit of a star, and is massive enough for its gravity to crush it into aΒ hydrostatically equilibrious Β shape (usually aΒ spheroid ), but has notΒ cleared the neighborhood Β of other material around its orbit". The comparison you made with a small person is incorrect, as "planet" and "dwarf planet" are technical terms/designations, while "person" and "small person" are not.
So, you are wrong.

Oh shit, guess my Astronomy teacher was bull shiting us. I didn't read up on it I was just going off what I was told in high school astronomy which was if planet is in the name it's still a planet. Anyways thumbs up for doing your research dude.

Anzac-A1 In reply to Hazop131 [2017-12-27 20:04:04 +0000 UTC]
In high school they tend not to be very technical, so it's understandable that they told you it was a planet. It's a good lesson on how what you learn in school isn't always the whole story.

True that, you can see it with most history classes, I never thought they'dΒ do the same with science though.Β
