Description: Varan is one of the 3 guardian monsters of Yokohama along with Anguirus and Baragon, Varan is known as the God of the sky due to his ability to "fly" yet the flaps of skin connected to his body are actually used to help him glide, Varan along with his fellow Guardians where placed on Monster Island where they where accepted by Godzilla, though one day in 2004 Varan was one of the many monsters that where controlled by the Xilliens and was sent to destroy Moscow where he destroyed everything in his path, when he along with Baragon and Anguirus where teleported to Japan they fought Godzilla and managed to give him a pretty good beating until the monster King stacked all 3 guardians unconscious in a pile thus the mind control was severed inside them. Sometime later all 3 Guardian monsters regain consciousness, followed, and help Godzilla and the other Earth monsters fight off Keizer Ghidorah and Hedorah in Japan, after the alien pawns retreated Varan and his fellow guardians returned to Monster Island to live out their days in peace.

Abilities:

Durability: Varan's hide is extremely durable, & is unable to be penetrated by any known conventional weapon. Dr. Sugimoto & Kenji Uozaki propose that Varan's durability comes not from the thickness of his skin, but rather it's flexibility, which allows it to withstand impacts from projectiles & explosives.

Tri-phibiousness: Varan is a tri-phibian creature, meaning that he is capable of movement on land, underwater, or in the air. Varan walks across solid land with ease, & can effectively crush structures using his arms, legs, & tail. Varan remains submerged underwater for long periods of time, initially spending his time under a lake. Varan later makes his way to Tokyo by swimming through the ocean, evading Keizer Ghidorah's gravity manipulation as he quickly covers a great distance. Most unusually, Varan is capable of gliding flight. Varan unfolds Draco lizard like membranes and leaps into the air, with the membranes allowing him to glide across the sky. Varan glides at speeds of up to Mach 1.5, the same flight speed as Rodan. The bumps on Varan's skin are explained to be filled with helium, allowing him to rise into the air & glide.

Wind Breath: Varan can fire a blast of white colored wind from his mouth which is capable of destroying objects in it's path and lifting vehicles into the air.

Sonic Beam: In addition to his wind breath, Varan can emit a pink Sonic beam roar from his mouth. Varan can use sonic waves to communicate over great distances, but has the capability to weaponize these same sonic waves as a beam that knocks other monsters off-balance.

Physical Capabilities: Varan is very strong, easily crushing buildings under his weight using his limbs & tail. Varan is shown to be a capable hand-to-hand combatant, making use of his claws & agility to carry out martial arts-style moves while also being able to leap into the air & glide.

Energy Shield: After absorbing some of Mothra's energy, Varan can form a light blue-ish round energy shield that can deflect SpaceGodzilla's corona beam . Varan can release this energy shield and send it colliding with the ground, which will cause a massive explosion. This attack is the first method to pierce SpaceGodzilla's skin, opening a small wound on his neck that later proves instrumental in defeating him.

Concentrated Blast: This ability allows for Varan to shoot small concentrated balls of sonic energy at targets that explode on impact.
