Description Also called “Aurgelmir”. Norse God of Frost. The first Jotun. A Giant among Giants, he is the largest Jotun. A giant who was created from the drops of water that formed when the ice of Niflheim met the heat of Muspelheim.

Ymir was the father of all the giants; a male and a female grew under his arm, and his legs produced a six-headed son.

A cow, Audumla, nourished him with her milk. Audumla was herself nourished by licking salty, rime-covered stones. She licked the stones into the shape of a man; this was Buri, who became the grandfather of the great god Odin and his brothers. These gods later killed Ymir, and the flow of his blood drowned all but one frost giant.

The three gods put Ymir’s body in the void, Ginnungagap, and fashioned the earth from his flesh, the seas from his blood, mountains from his bones, stones from his teeth, the sky from his skull, and clouds from his brain. Four dwarfs held up his skull. His eyelashes (or eyebrows) became the fence surrounding Midgard.

His descendants are the evil Frost Giants, but some of them are good. The Jotuns are a powerful immortal race of nature spirits with superhuman strength, standing in opposition to the races of Æsir and Vanir, although they frequently mingled with or were even married to these.

Unbelievably old, they carry wisdom from bygone times. It is the giants Mímir and Vafþrúðnir Odin seeks out to gain this pro-cosmic knowledge. Many of the gods' spouses are giants. Njǫrðr is married to Skaði, Gerðr becomes the consort of Freyr, Óðinn gains the love of Gunnlǫð, and even Thor, the great slayer of their kind, breeds with Járnsaxa, mother of Magni.

As such, they appear as minor gods themselves, which can also be said about the sea giant Ægir, far more connected to the gods than to the other giants occupying Jotunheim. None of these fear light, and in comfort their homes do not differ greatly from those of the gods.

Their otherworldly homeland is Jǫtunheim. They have multiple types of Jotuns like Hill giants, Fire Giants, Stone Giants, Ocean Giants, Frost Giants, Cloud Giants, Storm giants, and Mountain Giants. They are quite powerful and sometimes are capable of magic, creating illusions and Shapeshifting.

There are also lesser giants this includes: Ogres: Strong dimwitted giants, Ettins: Two head giants, and Trolls: Lanky giants with regenerative abilities.

Fun Fact about giants: they use rock throwing for battle, hunting, and sport. They can use spears and arrows, but the simple act of tossing boulders gives them just as much satisfaction. Don’t be fooled, They can throw boulders with such accuracy and strength.

Ymir is still revered by some Frost Giants, and he is stuck in Niflheim, plotting.

They don’t really like Yahweh.

The battle between the Norse Gods and the Frost Giants represent Law and Chaos.
