Description
For the longest time now I've been wanting to build myself a solid full sized (11" x 17") comic book board template. I finally had time over my long holiday to work on it. It's based on one of the more popular boards that you can buy in stores (though not exactly the same) because I use that for my analog work and sometimes work with a hybrid digital-analog method so they need to be as close to one another as possible. The file is created in Photoshop CS4.
Feel free to download and use it but please let me know how it works for you. I'd also if there are any features that you think could be added to the file to make it more functional and/or user friendly.
Thanks! And Enjoy!
eric

Awesome!!! To prepare the artwork digitally, I'd illustrate in photoshop and then do the text in illustrator. I suppose my illustrator files should include the trimming marks for the printer--the ones that this template shows? (I'm honestly a bit confuse)

Yes. Draw/color in PS (using the template here) then letter on a separate layer in illustrator. You could, technically, letter in PS you'll get a much cleaner result in illustrator. Β You'll keep the registration marks on the template so that everything lines up correctly and fits on the page (without anything being cut off) when you have your work printed.Β

Sorry it took me over a year to thank you for your reply.
Through all these time I got more experienced in making my comic book. Looking for more information, I ended up downloading several templates (including yours) and quite honestly I don't know which one was the one I started to use. The thing is, almost everybody agree in leaving the same space from the artwork to the edge of the page, for trimming. --It is also a bit confusing that Marvel measurements for templates are a little different from the ones for DC and DarkHorse--and often, the templates for Manga comics are even more different since their comics are smaller. It is like each company/branch has their own particular template.
