The urge to draw King K. Rool has been quenched!
I noticed the model for Rare-era K. Rool had his calves shorter than his thighs, which were still dwarved by the rest of him by comparison. This of course meant the legs were the hardest part to capture. I also wanted the legs to be more defined, since other depictions of him, namely his current look, have his legs dwarfed even further by every other part of him. The idea of his legs barely being able to support him was just too uncomfortable.
Many sources were used for reference; his current design, Smash 4′s Mii costume of him, a bit of the cartoon show, and mostly his Donkey Kong Country/64 model to combat details that got lost from his current look.

-EDIT- Well since his appearance in Smash Ultimate used his older palette with the modern design, and rocked it with flying colors, I guess I can retract my statement!
