Description The Love Story of Uzumaki Kuuya & Namikaze Mitsuko

Part Two: Unrequited

--

Part One: Wrong Footing - [link]

Part Three: "Damn it..." - [link]

------

Kuuya: MaleKushina

Mitsuko: FemMinato

Masahiro: MaleMikoto (Sasuke's Mom)

Jin: FemJiraiya

Tsukiya: MaleTsume (Kiba's Mom)

Ikue: FemInoichi (Ino's Dad)

------

Yes, this one is shorter. I hadn't realized how little I'd given this part until I began putting it together. Lol. Whoops...

That's alright, though. You'll get a better idea of what happens at this point in the Back Story.

--

NOTE: Masahiro's comment about his "own blonde" to worry about refers to Ikue, Ikuo's Mom. If you recall, I mentioned that they dated for a brief time, before Masahiro was sucked into his arranged marriage by the Uchiha with his wife. He was too loyal to the clan to break it off, despite Ikue's insistence, so Ikue broke up with him.

BackStory:

Several years have passed since that last encounter in Part One. Kuuya and Mitsuko have grown older, and though some things have changed, others haven't.

Mitsuko, over time and with the help of her new sensei, manages to step past the days in which she would not, could not speak to Kuuya, and approaches him more than a few times, attempting to become close to the boy she continues to care more and more deeply for. After seeing Kuuya at one of his lowest moments and finally recognizing the pain, the confusion and loneliness he's so riddled with, Mitsuko desires to reach out to him, to do anything to erase that from him.

Unfortunately, that incident remains fresh in his mind, and the stubborn Kuuya will not accept what Mitsuko attempts to offer him. He instead becomes cautious --not only of her, but of everyone-- and regards her and all others with suspicion. He refuses to trust this blonde Crybaby who he's disliked from Day One and turns his back to her every advance, sparing her the same scowls and glares he did as children and expressing his annoyance at her presence.

This greatly pains Mitsuko, for she still does not understand his aversion to her all these years but she trudges on and persists, continuing to return his harsh glances with that small, sweet smile of hers she's been giving him for years and treating him with all the kindness and love she has in her heart.

She's falling for him and falling hard.

To be honest, Kuuya's best friend, Masahiro, doesn't even understand this strange aversion and actually attempts to put in a good word for Mitsuko, as he is on friendly terms with her, even if Kuuya is not. He knows of Mitsuko's feelings and hints them to Kuuya in the hopes that he will recognize his stubbornness and idiocy over a girl he would be lucky to have and who many boys their age would kill for.

Unfortunately, Kuuya is a dense boy and a teenage boy, at that, and will not listen to Masahiro or see Mitsuko's feelings --Or perhaps he refuses to see them, whether he means to or not. He sees that same pathetic, little, flaky Crybaby he saw that first day and a Weirdo who won't leave him alone.

The true irony to his first nickname is that he has never actually seen her cry. Despite how much he ignores her, glares at her, rejects her, and all-around hurts her, she does not cry. Her eyes remain dry, if pained --though he is blind to this until he is at a point to regret it-- but she does not shed a tear, only smiles that same sweet, patient smile that drives Kuuya insane for he does not understand it, why she would smile like that, and it frustrates him to no end.

She does not even cry when she, after having come to the realization herself and wondered endlessly how to confront him about it, finally confesses her full feelings to him.

Kuuya is so stunned for a moment that he can't find anything to say. He doesn't even think to scowl or glare, can only stand in silence, stock-still and motionless.

If there was anything he had expected of her, that was the last on his mind.

Kuuya remains the most quiet he's ever been, and Mitsuko, shortly after her confession and throughout this strange silence, quietly explains that she expects nothing of him, only thought he should know. Then, she smiles at him once more --though internally, her heart is sinking at his unreadable stare-- and walks off without a word.

Kuuya doesn't move for quite some time, and when he does, it is as silently as Mitsuko's parting.

He remains strangely quiet for the next week.

And despite her near-constant presence in his life up until that point, he doesn't see Mitsuko either.

At the end of that week, he is kidnapped.

To be Continued in Part 3...

Kuuya's Friendships:

Let's rewind for a moment. Go back behind the scenes of what was occurring above. This is Kuuya and Mitsuko's Love Story, yes, but there is more to be learned on Kuuya's end that shape him and affect him.

Cut back to earlier in this Story, though, back to the suspicious Kuuya who is cautious towards everyone and Mitsuko's beginning attempts to reach out to Kuuya.

Despite Mitsuko's numerous attempts, someone else manages to break through Kuuya's hard shell and make their way into his life.

This is Uchiha Masahiro. He becomes Kuuya's best friend.

Like with all of Kuuya's relationships, their beginning is rocky.

Masahiro and Kuuya first meet at a training ground where Masahiro stumbles across the jinchuuriki. Kuuya senses his presence and is, of course, instantly on his guard, but Masahiro is nothing but friendly, apologizing for interrupting and politely asking if Kuuya minds if he use the area too. Kuuya, after sizing him up, reluctantly agrees, and they begin training by their selves.

This happens several more times --too many times for Kuuya to believe it's coincidental anymore-- until Kuuya can no longer keep his mouth shut. He demands Masahiro's motives, still terribly suspicious, and certain that Masahiro must have some underhanded reason for doing this.

To his surprise, Masahiro simply smiles and asks if he would spar with him.

Kuuya is understandably confused and bewildered by the boy's offer, but after a taunt or two by the other, which taps into his competitive nature, he accepts the challenge and they battle it out.

Afterwards, Masahiro finally confesses that he had chanced upon Kuuya training before and, impressed by the boy's skills, had desired to test himself against the other. He admits that it was thrilling to face him and that he would like to do it again.

Kuuya, though excited by this, suddenly wonders if that is all to it.

He wonders if Masahiro only chose this because of what he is.

He accuses the Uchiha of this, and Masahiro is genuinely surprised by the accusation. It is in suddenly recognizing this, seeing the sincere confusion in his eyes, that Kuuya realizes that hadn't been Masahiro's intention at all. Masahiro hadn't wanted to fight him because he was the 9-tails jinchuuriki.

He wanted to fight him as him, for Masahiro already knows what it's like to be recognized for a title or who you are --He is the Uchiha heir, after all, and he understand Kuuya completely.

This understanding strikes Kuuya, and he is affected deeply. He and Masahiro share a connection, an empathy, he sees, and for the first time in a long time, Kuuya feels less alone.

Kuuya has a friend; a bond, if you will, to put it in Naruto terms.

This opens the door for Kuuya to develop new friendships, new relationships. He is still suspicious and wary --this may not change; perhaps it will only lessen, but never leave him-- but he is no longer lonely and now better able to allow others in. Though, Masahiro will always remain his closest and most dearest friend.

Tsukiya ends up tagging along much later, even though he's two years younger than them. The relationship serves mostly with him hanging around them and tagging along with them because they're older and he thinks they're cool. Kuuya finds him a bit annoying at first and hates that Masahiro encourages him, but the Uchiha convinces him that he's not so bad, and Tsukiya becomes an odd little member of their small group.

---

Mitsuko's (lack of) Friendships

Mitsuko, however, does not have the same luck with friends as Kuuya. She is beautiful and a genius, both of which, though the latter most of all, alienate her from her others; much how Kuuya is alienated, which leads to an understanding between them that Mitsuko attempts to bring to Kuuya's attention, though he does not see it.

She never really has a "best friend," though she does come to be friendly with other women.

Thus, she spends more time with her teacher and depends more upon her and the Toad Summons for company. It is her and they she turn to when she is upset and hurt over Kuuya, who she seeks comfort, advice, and a simple listening ear from.

Gamabunta is greatly present during these moments and, thus, is very much a witness to the pain Kuuya puts her through. He is already highly protective of her, sweet little Mitsuko who has been nothing but kind and considerate to him and the other summons. He respects her for her bravery and strength and her own polite respect of him. Not to mention, the little ones adore her so much. Therefore, he'll be damned if anyone hurts this girl who might as well be family.

That said, he doesn't exactly think highly of Kuuya, not even when the two finally get together or marry or when he recognizes that he boy loves her greatly. Though, he does restrain himself --for Mitsuko's sake-- and "play nice," he never forgets how much harm Kuuya caused and swears that should Kuuya ever do it again, he will kill him himself.

Lol. Isn't he? And thank you. They do each other good. Masahiro keeps Kuuya from making too many dumb decisions, and Kuuya loosens overly-polite "Good Boy" Masahiro up.

I know, right?

(I do like to imagine she makes a connection with the YamaNaraMichi girls --though she, unfortunately, can never really be a part of their little circle ;^;-- and that she's pretty friendly with Terumi, the Ichiraku Ramen Woman. And maybe she's on fairly good terms with Hotaru, Satomi's mom, as I think about the 4th Shippuden movie... O3O It's not much, but it's better.)

Lol. Yes, yes. *giggle* As someone has said before on another artwork, Masahiro's basically a smiley, happier Sasuke.
