Time has passed since the Metarex were defeated. Rouge found Shadow wandering around Cascade (the late Molly's home planet)They rekindled their friendship and caught up with each other.

Rouge: What's that?
Shadow (faces her) : Who I can trust.
He smiles at her, a genuine rare smile and Rouge reciprocates

Shadow's face drops slightly, confused.
