Description
As dawn broke, Scream found she couldn't keep its host suppressed any longer. Gwen found herself face to face with the reflection of her new form in a window on the side of a thrashed gas station. She instinctively pulled back and crashed into a shelving unit holding salted snacks. Packaged chips and crackers littered the floor as Gwen continued to flail as she realized she wasn't just wearing a strange mask. The strange membrane covered her arms, her bosom, and even reached down the rest of her torso, and covered her legs. To her surprise, this alien membrane also had a tail!

For a moment, Gwen almost let herself enjoy her new circumstance. It didn't seem so bad, after all. She was still alive. She was still breathing. She even had control of herself once more. She was so agonizingly close to accepting the symbiote that it made Scream hurt. Then, out of the corner of her extra-terrestrial eye, she saw the body.

There were three employees working at this distant gas-station in the middle of nowhere that evening. Now there were none. Gwen found their bloodied bodies scrawled across the property. None of them looked older than twenty five. All of them had their skulls crushed and their brains removed. Gwen gravitated to the vacant stare of what appeared to be the youngest. Tears began to well up in her eyes as she came to the unavoidable conclusion that she now had someone's brains floating around in her digestive tract. It wasn't the horror of disgusting materials alone that made Gwen weep. Each of these employees came from somewhere. They had parents. They had friends. Each one had hopes and desires for their lives. They were suddenly and violently ended and seemingly mostly for entertainment.

Gwen, still inside the alien skin that transformed her into a cannibal, fell to her knees and wept.

That's when Venom lowered herself from the ceiling, "Good morning, cousin. I hope your meal sat well with you."

Gwen clenched her fists and tried to strike at Venom.

"Oh, that's a bad temper for someone who went out of her way to feed you," Venom hissed through its toothy smile, "And clothe you."

"I never asked for your 'help'," Gwen exclaimed through her symbiote's mouth, "I survived for the better part of twenty years without your choice of food and dress!"

"Go on then," Venom growled, "Rip away your new gifted flesh the way you'd remove a defective circuit from a computer."

To Venom's surprise, Gwen began to do just that. She plunged her clawed hands into her own face and began to peal away the symbiote. Both Gwen and Scream let out an agonizing cry of pain. The creature had already burrowed deeply into Gwen's skin, tissue, and muscles. The smallest inch of freed human flesh was like a dozen miles of broken glass to be endured by bare feet. Gwen couldn't do it. She couldn't endure the pain.

As the symbiote encased her face and mouth once more, Gwen couldn't stop hating herself. She wasn't strong enough.

... She wasn't good enough.

The monster roamed free once more.
