mmmmmmehhhh, I'm tired lol, submitting really late and staying up late the previous night from 4th of July madness. Ugh.Since the Code Black contest entries arn't due till the 17th, I'm doing other odds and ends, like more fmp stuff.
I feel like I'm getting Horibe's art style down quite well, even though the rough sketch was hard to get down. I used a reference from his book Yours and tried to fit the proportions to Kaname's proportions. Sadly enough, since all my other pics dealt with endowed junk in the front, I'm tending to draw bigger chests now and Kaname doesn't have a big chest. I knew that was going to happen sooner or later. Well......really not a sad thing >:3
Background reminds me of the Super Smash Bros. logo thing lol
Update (July 8) Final details. This one I really liked doing, turned out nice.
Update (July 9) Bumped up the saturation to make the colors more lively.
Also with all the art drama going around, this is was inspired by the late Horibe Hiderou from the book Yours.
look it up and buy his book.

i had the chance to see this anime but i opted for Excel Saga instead (though til this day I think I made the wrong choice)

much thanks. I'm trying to mimic one of the best anime artists, I think of all time when it comes to female characters. Horibe Hiderou. I am still no where close to his caliber though. If FMP does not work for you, I recommend Gurren Lagann, that series is over the top and downright epic

When you made this, did you draw line art on paper and then scan it, or did you make it straight from a tablet? Just wondering. Looks awesome!

I drew it on bristol paper 1st, that way I could erase and mistakes and the outline that I drew, scaned it and then on the tablet is where I finalize the piece and add extra things if necessary. I never do anything straight from the tablet, it tends to get tedious zooming in and out of the picture and that gives me a huge headache. That way also that I can keep up to par on my traditional mediums.

How do you get such clean lines? When I scan stuff, even after I spend hours cleaning up the lineart and apply a blur to the finished product, my lines look kind of rough.

Always, once I'm done doing the lineart, I go over it again to make sure I don't have and lines that are "bigger" than other lines. I use a 5 soft brush for lineart, that way you don't have to blur anything once your done with the lineart

much thanks. I'm trying to get where I can copy this one artist's style. His name is Hiderou Horibe, you should look his work up. He recently passed away last year, but his work is awesome. I have 2 of his books >:3

I tend to like the dark shade, the lighter clothing gets on my nerves. Plus I did some googling (with my dial up lol) and this is a close resemblance to what they high school girls wear back in the 90's. The bright colors make me question.......who would wear that Ya'know.

It's very good. You could have fooled me about the chest, though. I've seen Kaname boobs drawn smaller before, but I've also seen them drawn huge. Either way, I'd say she's at least a C usually.

I drew them to big, mainly because her school uniform would constrain them and, ahem flatten them a tad lol. so yea, yay boobs XD
