There's something poignant about a thing lovingly crafted, left to waste. Being stone, the birdbath doesn't decompose, but shows its disuse nonetheless, and of course, being empty of water deprives it of its only purpose. Note the cracking of the dead moss in the bowl, which I thought particularly lovely. And of course, it's all offset by a single red berry, which was placed there by a bird. An offering, perhaps, to the gods of bathing?
