Blaze the Cat is in the comics (and in the Freedom Fighters fan-continuity) an extra-dimensional princess. I liked the idea of her being nearly goddess-like to the mobians: obscenely powerful but equally serene and seeming above such earthly concerns as plague even those who count her an ally.

Eh, everyone's a critic. I wouldn't worry about them too much.
In fact, I kinda prefer this look and the look of your Sally re-design because it fits more into your realistic sci-fi continuity.
By the way, do you think maybe you could do a drawing of some ofnthe more important Drakon characters, like Gall and the leaders of the Houses?

Speaking of armor, I like the light body armor you included on Blaze; showing that despite her normally gracious and respectful demeanor she's still very much a veteran of the Sol Wars.

I'm working on a sort of 'Blaze: Battle Mode' picture because of some requests for it, but I liked the idea of her robe being integrated with armor. Sol was not always a peaceful place so kind of like the Egyptian and Japanese their rulers carry on their person ceremonial weapons and armor.

Indeed! I think actually it would be interesting if you maintained some of the Greco-Roman elements that their original armor had.
That actually kinda reminds me of the idea you had of linking the Sword of Acorns from the Archie comics to Blaze. Maybe it was a powerful weapon she had during the old wars of Sol that was lost and transported to Prime, and subsequently adopted by the Acorn dynasty as a ceremonial item? Maybe Blaze even finds it again and decides to let the Acorns keep it because of how they've managed to keep it good condition for all this time?

Uh... I did see where you were trying to go for this (hell, this certainly nails your description of her being "nearly goddess-like" to regular Mobians), but I just can't shake how Blaze is.

Ok, to be real here, I may be just too much of a stickler for the classic designs for my own good, but a part of me still feels a "dressed in elaborate white dress" does not fit Blaze, at least when she first meets Sonic and his friends. I COULD see this outfit in a "distant future", where Blaze goes from princess to full-on queen, or even this design being used for Blaze's mother (to symbolize her as the full Queen, while Blaze is still just a princess for the moment).
Perhaps you can draw blaze in this same artstyle, but in a purple dress similar to how she appears in the games and comics? I can understand if you want to make it more elaborate and powerful than the classic appearance, just something a fraction less powerful than this.
