A remake of an older re-imagining I wrote and lost during the great hacking of my Jarredspekter account. I added some things and tried to follow some of the plot lines of the original game but also tried to keep consistent with the older version as much as I could remember it.Shadow the Hedgehog was a standalone game based on an anti-hero in the Sonic the Hedgehog universe. Usually he's a foil for the blue blur himself, but in the comics as well as the games he's always had a fairly ambiguous back story and a tragic past. Honestly he's always kind of intrigued me. He's clearly a 'badass' version of Sonic in many ways and some see his riding motorcycles and carrying gun a plea for attention but I think if the attention was paid instead to his crisis of identity and the nature of him as a living weapon he can have an interesting tale to tell.

well it's just the way you phrased things here made it seem as though that Shadow didn't have much familiarity with Sonic, and Shadow died at the end of Adventure 2 but was brought back for Heroes due to his massive popularity.

Ah, it's good to see this one back. I do like Shadow but I don't think he really needed a game, and the guns gameplay reallly doesn't work or fit in the Sonic world.

Well, this is a surprise, but not an unwelcome one. Kudos on getting this sucker patched up!
I had my own idea for adapting Shadow The Hedgehog (as part of my project of adapting the Sonic series in general), which took some elements from the "JLA: Year One" series (dc.wikia.com/wiki/JLA:_Year_On… ).
I'll explain my ideas when I have the time later, but just wanted to congratulate you for getting this back online!

Ok, well the part of JLA: Year One I was going to focus on would be the overarching plan of the Appelexians and the Locus. The Appelexians are the alien race that eventually invades the Earth, so they can be basic stand-ins for the Requisitioners/Black Arms. What's interesting (at least to me), are the Locus, the human organization that basically lays the beachhead for the Appelexians to invade Earth (dc.wikia.com/wiki/Locus_(New_E… ).
Locus was a fringe group that focused on eugenics and "might makes right" Darwinism, and uncovered the unconscious body of an Appelexian during an Appelexian battle on Earth that was routed by the members of the JLA before the events of "JLA: Year One". Locus in turn would begin to idolize the above-human forms of the Appelexians, and would use the stolen corpses of the Appelexians killed by the JLA in the first battle of Earth to design their own Appelexian bodies, with the end goal being to upload their minds into the Appelexian bodies, and wipe out humanity before letting the Appelexians colonize the world.
Basically, where I'm going with this is that a sub-faction of the GUN (which I'm tentatively giving the name of "The Black Arms", on the grounds that I don't want that name associated with the aliens) that openly collaborated with the aliens in designing the Ultimate Lifeform, and also had an end-goal of transferring their human minds into alien bodies before wiping out and recolonizing Earth.
I was also imagining that Gerald Robotnik did use the technology offered by the aliens to develop Shadow, but had a change of heart when Shadow started to befriend Maria, and it was the sub-faction of the GUN working with the aliens who framed Gerald as a traitor to the GUN, and ordered the termination of Gerald and the Shadow Project (with the GUN sub-faction justifying Shadow as too emotionally compromised by Maria to be of actual service to the aliens, and only after the events of Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Heroes did the aliens pressured the GUN sub-faction to manipulate him as a weapon instead of just destroying him).

I just liked the idea of Shadow listening un-ironically to some kind of music everyone else would not suspect he'd like. I mean the only person who gave him a notion of humanity was a twelve year old girl

Ok, I can see the comedy potential of "gruff badass has the pop tastes of a 12-year old girl" (something akin to this commercial: www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZEL1h… ).
But I also think that Shadow can eventually acquire a taste for some metal, mostly because I'm imagining it as a foil to Sonic (who, since his creators say is based at least partially on 80s pop legend Michael Jackson, is a guy who I think is in to 80s pop music). In essence, while Sonic likes 80s pop like Michael Jackson, David Bowie, Phil Collins, etc., Shadow would be more into grunge like Nirvana, or 80s metal like Judas Priest, Quiet Riot, Guns N' Roses, etc.
That, and I was planning one funny bit where Sonic is getting down to "Smooth Criminal" (www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_D3VF… )... and Shadow is just awkwardly standing to the side, "not getting it".
To be followed up with a Brick Joke of Shadow jamming out to a slightly different "Smooth Criminal" (www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDl9ZM… )... and Sonic completely going ballistic over how the song "ruined" Michael Jackon's "Smooth Criminal", Shadow snarking back with "at least they're using actual instruments instead of drum machines", and things only going downhill from there.

Well, I was going to have it that Shadow picked up a taste for metal before he met Sonic, and the two argue their two musical tastes throughout their time together (which reaches a head when Shadow starts listening to Alien Ant Farm's "Smooth Criminal" cover, and Sonic freaks out over it, before the two have a "truce" where they gift each other CDs - of terrible artists in their respective genres).
