Dr. Robotnik's favored form of minion is one which doesn't question orders and has no pesky conscience to get in the way of executing them.
The mobians derivatively refer to these recon and assault robots as 'badniks'. Sometimes more generally they're referred to as 'Eggman Robots' because of the popular (if unfortunate) nickname of their leader.
Unlike robotized humans or mobians Swatbots are manufactured wholesale and require no training as they all have rudimentary maps of their patrols, behavioral subroutines (generally 'kill anything not where it's supposed to be') and are constantly receiving updates from central control as well as sending their camera feeds directly to Robonik's throne room for observation.
Swatbots have a variety of functions which each come with their own toolset from guards armed with blasters to workers welding wrenches and shovels. Any Swatbot at a moment's notice regardless of designation can be commanded to destroy and will do so by any means available to them of the moment from locating a conventional weapon to using their heavy metal ligaments to squash an opponent into submission.
