Ah, I see.

I did feel a bit of sadness when NASA announced the retirement of the Shuttle. I wonder what they'll have to replace it.

I have heard of them developing a new capsule-esque craft (like Apollo or Gemini), but would be reusable like the Shuttles.

Orion is what it's called. Ah. I hope it works out.

I believe they will give it a test flight next year.

They tested the Aries design that the Shmuck in Chief Obama cancelled. It was designed for Orion

I hear they plan to use the Space Launch System for Orion. It came from the Ares rockets.

Yup I think once the Shmuck is out hopefully they can continue with what they already had.

You better hope the next guy is no William Proxmire.

Who ???

L1701E In reply to GeneralTate [2013-03-02 00:59:23 +0000 UTC]

William Proxmire was a senator from Wisconsin from 1957 to 1989. He was heavily against the idea of space colonization, calling it "a nutty fantasy", which got him the enmity of a lot of space advocates.

Aah yeah I don't think he will get in.

I was just making a comparison. Proxmire's become a verb for unfairly obstructing scientific research for political gain.

Besides, Proxmire's been dead since 2005.

Ooh good

Indeed. I think space exploration is important, as it allows for innovation. A lot of things we use today came from NASA research, like Velcro.
