1775-1795 Officers Full dress uniform of the 1st Footguards
during the American War of Independence.
Credit where it's due;
Coat + Waistcoat + Breeches + Gaiters - John Anastasio at Stitch In Time (ask me for contacts - this guy also made Simons Uniforms)
Shirt + Garters + Gloves + Gorget + Stockings - Jas Townsend (Google him)
Shoes + Sash - Various ebay sellers
Aguilettes - Company in Pakistan who's name I've forgotten - Sorry!
***********************************************
Left main pic: Poser shot
Top-run: Various full Uniform shots, 2nd from right is a 1795 hat (Other ranks) 1st from Right is a later Bicorne, small, but similar to what the Real General Vyse would have worn in the Dragoons.
Bottom run:
1: General Poser shot
2: Darcy shot
3: Obligatory comedy shot
4: Commando 1775
5: Different lighting
I regret that the furs are real, ww2 Martin furs, there must be six animals in that scarf - they're long dead and it's vintage - it was my grandmothers, so at least they havent gone to waste.

I don't know about being a good model, but the coat is superb! I had it made buy a guy near London, John Anastasio
It cost a pretty penny, but definitely worth it.

Ahhh whatever I think you do well in it! I don't know if the photo is any good indication of the coat's quality, but it LOOKS amazing, and worth whatever it cost!

*swoon* You, sir, make a rather dashing soldier.
That said, there's an immense amount of detail in that coat. It makes me drooool.

Squeeee! Dashing! Dapper! and vintage or antique fur does not support the current fur trade, though it is good you mention it to not be mistaken for giving a bad example

Very actually - you wouldnt think it. Only problem it is quite warm, but then it's meant to be worn in all weathers.

hahaha!!! Well, I suppose they count as assets?

GeneralVyse In reply to glowcat [2009-11-13 22:30:16 +0000 UTC]
Most of them do, antiques increase in value as they get rarer more significant etc. But replicas.... that all depends on the quality, condition and size. Many reenactors are overweight so my skinny coat won't be popular.
Anyway, i should really do something about insurance...

I have NO idea how it it is called in english... In german it's the "Dreispitz". (There are some other very interesting names for it though...)
Nice! I live about 15 km north from Stuttgart!

GeneralVyse In reply to Nebele [2009-11-16 20:54:20 +0000 UTC]
Dreisspitz - so three point? Well in French/English, we call it the Tricorne which means the same thing

Nebele In reply to GeneralVyse [2009-11-16 22:00:52 +0000 UTC]
Wohh! Amazing, I learned something! Even though it's not really a Tricorne, but I want it anyways. (My favourite name for a Tricorne in German is "Nebelspalter", which means Fogsplitter )
