Description A view of Fort/Port Arthur, St James' Bay, Devia, looking towards the west.

Evening and the boats are away for mayday, It is a day of rest for the people of Fort Arthur.

you can see its many features, Fort Arthur on the hill, Fort Charles on the promonitory point and the gallows also there, on the highest point. The Quays are clear for the month as the Fleet is on maneuvers. You can also see the familiar form of St James' Church, and the court house.

Port Arthur boasts, many fine shops and canteens - it is reknown for it's wig shops and tailors.

A military town, there is scarcely a house without the forces of the king billeted inside.
