Description
Linden (green), a young monk studying medicine in the Mountains, is sent to the poor and plague-ridden Desert Kingdom to use his newly mastered talents for healing to help. He's only been working a few days when a mysterious character floats through the wall and scares him right off his chair. This character is Careen (blue), the Spirit of Reckless Adventure. He reveals that he's been spying on Linden since he moved in a week ago, and announces that he would be the perfect candidate for a quest. A quest for The Verdant Sword. The Verdant Sword is a legendary blade known across the world for it's supposed magical powers. They say one touch of the sword can heal any curse or wound, and thrusting it into the ground makes that land fertile forevermore (hence the name). Of course, to Linden, this is superstitious nonsense. The way he sees it, being religious doesn't mean he has to believe in the impossible. But Careen insists. When Linden refuses a second time, he is seized by the Spirit of Reckless Adventure and the quest has begun! That's the basic beginning of the movie. I actually wrote a script for the meeting scene. I might put that up here if I can revise it by Monday.
Some information about Linden: He's very dedicated to God and the Good Spirits, but at the same time he's very logical. He doesn't believe in luck or miracles, and he certainly doesn't believe in the Verdant Sword. Personality: Cautious, hardworking, intelligent, somewhat grumpy and short when dealing with people (or Spirits) he doesn't like. 5'6", 190 pounds.
Some information about Careen: He doesn't know if the Verdant Sword exists, and he doesn't care either. All he wants is an adventure. He is not technically a "he", given that he's a spirit, which accounts for the slightly androgynous appearance and voice. The laws of physics don't apply to Careen unless he decides they do, but he's not a Good Spirit, so he can't be in two places at once. Personality: Silly, carefree, reckless (obviously), out of touch with human manners and customs, chaotic, lazy (that's why Linden is carrying him in the picture. He could easily float along beside him, but he just doesn't feel like it). His carelessness extends to dealing with life. Since he's immortal, he lacks any real understanding of human mortality, and that becomes apparent very soon in the quest. 6'0", 140 pounds.
Some information about this world's religion: Their religion is known and practiced across the world and it consists of an almighty God, who rules over all the Spirits and mortals, and the Good Spirits. There are five in total: The Spirit of Love, The Spirit of Prosperity, The Spirit of Justice, The Spirit of Peace, and The Spirit of Knowledge. I'll post their designs later. Each of them is in charge of receiving everyday prayers pertaining to their area of expertise and relaying divine messages to the mortals.
This idea came to me while I was in the middle of developing another idea. The original idea involved a minstrel and a monk. At first I wasn't planning on doing anything with it. It was just sitting there in my journal. While I was taking a break from my regular drawing, I sketched genericfandom.deviantart.com/a… . I liked the design, so I colored it. after I colored it I started to look for a name and a personality. I succeeded in finding Careen, and settling on a mischievous spirit idea. Almost immediately I realized it would be perfect for the healing sword idea. I scrapped the other project and began developing this. After I noticed how similar early Careen's mask was to a lot of other masks, I started drawing a bunch of different masks to replace it. I settled on this one because of how simple and distinct the design is. And I'm still working out the plot. I'm not quite sure how I want it to end.
In total, this drawing took me about 6 hours. It would have gone much faster, but I have yet to upgrade to better drawing software. Mine only supports five layers and it blends them if you cancel. I made the mistake of doing, that, so I had to spend about an hour fixing it.
This is my entry for Disney Club's Heroes, Villains and Sidekicks Contest. Sorry for the super long description, and thank you for reading!

I like how they were both drawn; you can see their mis-matched but good friendship in this
