Anyway comment if you wish... oh and by the way, the background will be available later on so if anyone wants to start on the pirate chick they can just u might want to wait for the BG.Oh and yeh, she doesnt look too undead in this one....maybe she can command dead armies or something.

Hi There!
You have just earned yourself an O.D.D.(oibyrd's daily devs) feature ! congrats!
TODAYS THEME - For the Love of Pirates!
ODDS (oibyrd's daily deviations) are to honor the sometimes overlooked artists of dA that I personally think deserve some exposure and also, to introduce the more popular artists to the new/overlooked deviants. I prefer to showcase ALL artwork that I love (and that includes popular artists with a fair amount of traffic to their work) in order to create a non-biased feature of the talent on dA. Please click the link below to see your work featured and to view other featured artists . If you prefer not to be a featured artist, just send me a note and I will remove you from the list. Cheers! Sandi xoxo

This one is my favourite scheme of the three; although it doesn't really fit with the idea of an undead piratesse, as a regular pirate captain she looks really awesome. She has the right qualities which make up a successful image of a female pirate: she is very beautiful, as can be seen from the tan, almost erotic colour of her face and breast (not to mention the breasts themselves! ), and from her full and pretty hair; but this idea of beauty is contradicted very well (and very fittingly) by these other, grimmer elements. Her expression and eyes look very fierce and angrily determined, her clothes and everything abรณut her is given a sort of shadowy, ominous look because of the dark shadowing and shading you've used, that bird she has looks more than a little like a vulture or some other 'evil' bird of prey, and that sword she has by her side doesn't look like a harmless toy..!
There are many other very successful contrasts here: her beautiful hair and pretty face are contrasted by her large, death-symbolizing hat and her fierce expression; the very spiffy and ornate corset-looking jacket of her torso are contrasted by the ragged, torn and dirty skirt; and her thin and feminine arms are contrasted by the large and 'manly' buckaneer's gloves.
Your colouring is just amazing, there is such a deep realism to it; and your cartoon-esque style really fits this colouring well, because all the proportions and shapes and roundly drawn forms are the ideal surface for this kind of realistic colouring. Your style of lineart and drawing in general has such a clear hip-hop atmosphere to it, with the confident lines, round shapes and clearly set and yet unique aspects to the subject of the drawing.
The background of this, though very simple, is extremely fitting too; the very dim outline of something in the back looks like it might be a door, perhaps to her cabin. And the darkness and grim atmosphere are really well brought out through this bg.
But it does seem like she has been pasted onto the backdrop, and this effect is caused by the white outlines; and while this outline does add to a sort of ghostly/terror effect, the way you've coloured her here really aren't all that 'undead'; more like intimidating and respect-inspiring.
So this is a beautiful and extremely adeptly composed picture; but for the 'undead' theme, this colouring is not suitable.
PS: She looks a bit like Rachel Weisz, though even more beautiful.

Nice... After looking at them all, this is the best! I agree wit Duece wit the whole skin thing... looks awesome but it should keep to the undead theme...
Have you seen pirates of the carribean??? That might give you a few ideas???

I think this one looks really good but doesn't have the "undead" feeling probably because of the warm colors. I think she would look great as a regular pirate but your design IV really has the right tones for you were trying to achieve.

i think this is the better one! you can really see the detail in this one but however i think if shes undead maybe fade her skin a little? That would contrast really well with the red
<- has been making grey and red ladies this week
