I moved this original version to Scraps because the new, completed version is such a vast improvement that I decided to just upload the completed version and call this a "work in progress". I apologize for the apparent spam of the finished artwork, but I am NOT double-posting.

Now brighter and more detailed. Comments on the changes are welcome, as well as what else needs to be improved upon.

I'm seriously in love with this drawing. I consider it the best I've done in years.

In the whole franchise, Caius is one of the most unique characters - not pretty, not emo, not shallow, not obnoxious. He also makes purple look REALLY COOL.

This took me HOURS to finish. The most trouble it gave me were his eyes and his lips. They're such distinct features - wide mouth, full lips; small but not too small eyes - so I had to keep erasing and redrawing them until they FINALLY looked right. Kept giving him semi-Caucasian features by accident - kind of got used to drawing Sephiroth, I guess.

I am quite pleased with his eyes. I love how it seems he's gazing back at the viewer, and how there seems to be three or four different emotions in them depending on how you look at it...

I consider this a vast improvement over my first drawing of him: [link] It's the same angle, but I paid special attention to how his face is structured this time. He's more masculine than the reference for his facial structure----> [link]

As for why his outfit is different (and why that headband is higher up), it's because this is how he appears in Divisions of Time . Also, I only realized it was too far up after it was too late to do anything about it.

Drawn on 14" x 17" paper with a no. 2 mechanical pencil. Cleanup done and words added in Photoshop CS2.
