Species: Russell's viper

The Priesthood's primary council member from Akaza, and Kalatra's replacement in Chandradhwani Village after his expulsion and execution. Devasta has made it her personal mission to ensure that Vina never reaches her full potential as Nayan Reincarnate. Devasta's primary weapon is the Nightmare Pungi, a special flute which lulls non-reptilian listeners into a paralyzed hallucinogenic stupor. Being the only other female member of the Priesthood's council aside from their matriarch, Vishamaya, Devasta is distinct in her feminine personality-- at her core, she is every bit as corrupt as her comrades, but she is able to mask this aspect of herself when it suits her, and play the role of a seductress." -CheVD

Design I did for my friend CheVD
Devasta was an interesting challenge, and I ended up working with some influences from the areas of Tibet and northern India, and had to do a lot of research into the types of clothing found in those areas, and then try to create something that would hopefully fit her role, as well as her personality. The Russel's Viper markings were tricky as well, especially getting them to follow the curves of her body. But since we were talking about a Mobian snake, in the end, we decided to stylize her pattern.

Her weapon, the Nightmare Pungi, is based off of the instruments used by snake charmers. It was a design challenge in and of itself, and required it's own research as I tried to get ideas for how to make it look sinister and nightmarish.
