Its because of his introduction as a character, he had an advantage against fighting Kenpachi Zaraki and yet still some how managed to fail in deafeating him, in doing so that makes him a poor character to me. I do however like his design as a character.

Well, don't forget Kenpachi is alone among the other captains who took his place by primitive force. He's strong and Tousen didn't have much advantage even with his bankai cause he couldn't kill him at once. I doubt that Byakya or Ukitake or others could kill Zaraki immediately. He must be killed from distance, so when Kaname got closer - he lost. I don't think he's a poor character. I just think he must take his own place.

He's one of my favourite Bleach characters (but of course, Aizen is beyond comparison ) but so little people likes him too.. So I'm happy to see like-minded person here! I'm planning to draw him more in the future
