Description
Here's the Mega Man 8 damage animation in 8-bit.Not sure if you can see it, but there's a white "starburst" behind Mega Man during the 6th and 8th frames.
Don't steal.
EDIT: Now with my new standing sprite!

I really wish they had used sprites like this for Battle & Fighters for Neo Geo Pocket, and Mega Man 9 & 10.

Whilst the animation is faithful to MM8 and MM&B, it is a little complicated for 8-Bit NES Mega Man.
First off there is too many frames of the animation, the original NES Mega Man animation had about 5 or 6 over 2 sprites.
Second, there is a little too much going on with the colours. The only time Mega Man should change colours is when he his using a weapon or utility, having his palette fluctuate like this is a little too complex, I'd also make the electric sparks white instead of yellow.
Lastly, though this is quite minor, I don't think there should be any sprites for the transition between the player moving Mega Man and the hurt animation. While it does look and animates smoothly, it doesn't fit in with the rest of his sprites.

I know, I know.
I was trying to make it faithful to the original MM8 animation, but if it were in a real NES MM game, it'd probably just use the 7th (in this animation) frame.

Of course, this animation would look just right in Rockman Battle & Fighters.

Understandable, a nice justification for the sprite being the way it is.
