Description
Eve (Hebrew: חַוָּה, chavvah; Arabic: حواء, Hawwa; Ge'ez: ሕይዋን Hiywan; "living one" or "source of life", from Hebrew ḥawwâ, "living", "life", from ḥāyâ, "to live"; ultimately from the Semitic root ḥyw) was, according to the Book of Genesis, the first woman created by God, and an important figure in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Her husband was Adam, from whose rib God created her to be his companion. She succumbs to the serpent's temptation via the suggestion that to eat the forbidden fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, would improve on the way God had made her, and that she would not die, and she, believing the lie of the Serpent rather than the earlier instruction from God, shares the fruit with Adam. As a result, the first humans are expelled from the Garden of Eden and are cursed.PSCS/6 hours or so/bamboo/music: Cirrus minor - Pink Floyd (this one must be one of my favorite songs of PF)

Actually, the Latter Day Saints (a.k.a. the Mormons) don't believe that Adam and Eve were cursed (committed a sin) for partaking of the fruit.
2 Nephi 2:22-23 goes:
22. And now, behold, if Adam had not transgressed he would not have fallen, but he would have remained in the garden of Eden. And all things which were created must have remained in the same state in which they were after they were created, and they must have remained forever, and had no end.
23. And they would have had no children; wherefore they would have remained in a state of innocence, having no joy, for they knew no misery; doing no good, for they knew no sin.
They believe Satan really wanted to win, he should have left them alone. For if Adam and Eve could not know good from evil, they could not progress, and if they could not progress, they can't return to Heaven, and if they can't return to heaven, God's Plan of Salvation would have been foiled, especially since no other children could be brought into the world.
So in turn, verse 25 of the same Chapter goes on to say:
25. Adam [and Eve] fell that men [and women] might be; and men are, that they might have joy.
So long story short, Eve so-called 'rebellion' was not a folly of the female sex (or the human race), but a first step on the road to salvation.

That's actually why God gave man authority over the woman. It's because Eve led him astray. Even today we see women in positions of power using their wiles to lead man astray.

Sure, whatever you say buddy. While we logical human beings laugh at you for trying to believe in a sexist mindset that women are somehow inferior temptresses, you can go back to the stone age for us and not bother society ever again.

I noticed that the piece and several other of the artist's works that depict biblical figures have been criticized for being included in the Myths and Legends section and I'm glad. It opens up dialogue and you get to see the "truth" in people. Everybody's idea of the truth is someone else's story. one of the best "Eve"s I've ever seen. thanks

There is something I never really understood about the story of Adam and Eve, and Christianity for that matter.
Eve was born from Adam's rib, right? Which would technically make Eve his daughter, I guess. So, when they started to populate Earth after they got their asses tossed out of the Garden of Paradise for eating the forbidden fruit of the Tree of Knowledge (apparently knowledge is evil and dangerous, don't go to school kids). They would be committing incest, right? So, according to scriptures; all people born on Earth are born through the acts of incest, right? Which brings me to what I don't understand; why do Christians today view incest as "wrong"? I mean, if a Christian have intercourse with anyone; they would as a matter of fact have sex with a relative.
I've been told that God was okay with incest for a time (to populate the world, I guess), but apparently God changed his mind later on and then started to condemning the act. But here it gets really strange! Because it doesn't matter how far back it goes because the moment you have had the same relative, like say, a common/shared ancestor like a great-great-great-...-grandfather over two thousands ago; you're still part of the same family tree.
So even if someone is (pardon my Danish) fucking someone else; then they would still be fucking a family member, right? So... you Christians are all sinful and dirty family fuckers, right?

Well, in technical terms, Eve is more like a clone since she was from Adam's rib, but I do see where you're going at. In fact, because the two lived for so long from eating from the tree of life, they may have had multiple children during their time before being banished from Eden. This may explain how Cain found a wife, who may have been his older or younger sister or his niece. So yeah, there was incest, and it also caused deformities and people were born different. That was until Exodus, or maybe it was mentioned in Deuteronomy or Numbers or Leviticus, that God said "Okay. Now that there is so many of you, your bloodline is completely different. So no more marrying your siblings, cousins, or anyone who is in your family." That's because the population was so high after the flood, the bloodline between people became very thin and is only strong in family members. So God was like "No more incest. Marry the people who's bloodline is completely different from yours and is not of your family." And that is when incest became a sin. It is also mentioned that some of the angels in heaven actually had sex with the women and the women gave birth to the Nephilim. That is, however, still debatable because in scripture it said that the "sons of God" saw the " daughters of man" very beautiful and they came down and slept with them. The term "sons of God" is still debatable. It was translated into two versions. One being that they were angels from heaven and the other being descendants of Seth. So in a way, there really wasn't much incest, but there was incest around. When the Earth became filled with many people and all of them were from different bloodlines because the one bloodline multiplied into very different bloodlines, that incest became a sin. People were no longer allowed to marry there siblings and cousins, and may explain why polygamy became a sin. There was no need for incest. That is why it's a sin.
I'm not sure if I can call Eve a clone of Adam. Even though God formed her out of Adam's rib, he may have altered her DNA to make her different from Adam. God made Eve to be Adam's wife so that he wouldn't feel alone. That is why he formed Eve out of Adam's rib. Not sure if they are related or completely different from each other. I don't know. The way God works is way beyond science and logic. That is why scientist and atheist are against Him because the way God works is scientifically impossible. That's why they try to debunk His existence when really He can neither be proven nor disproven. But yeah.
Also, I believe in the whole "sons of God" angels coming down from heaven thing because it sounds way cooler than the sons of God being the the descendants of Seth. That one part is what inspired most of my characters. I mean mostly all of my characters are angel descendant. Only a few are normal people and there are very little super powered warriors. But mostly all of them are "Nephilim".

fiskefyren : Actually, the first biblical accounts tells us that Adam and Eve were created at the same time, there was no rib involved. Which doesn't make them blood relatives.
Later versions used the rib story to justify the teachings about women being inferior to men, so it' all a matter of point of view.
And incest happens - per definition - between close family members, so, going from your theory, a relationship between distant cousins wouldn't be as such (just look at royal family trees in Europe !)
anyway, great piece of art and great depiction of a biblical character !

You do know there are many different versions of the Bible, right? How do you know if the one you're talking about is just "another version" of the Bible? The vast majority of Christians believe that Eve is born from Adam's rib, and that is what I'll go from. I can't do the 1000 of different versions of the Bible... I've just have to stick with the most videly beliefs and then sink them.
uhm... u do know incest in the royal family was only because they believed that was the only way to keep the bloodline pure, right? it didn't really have anything to do with incest persay, it was only because everyone else wasn't good enough / pure enough / clean enough, to fuck a royal pussy.
