Description Hi there guys! The last mont I was invited to Polymanga 2013, in Montreux, Switzerland. Was an awesome convention with a lot of awesome people I was lucky to meet Mr. Hiroshi Nagahama (director of Mushishi, Detroit Metal City and Aku no Hana, I admire him a LOT) but also I didnt know that Giger Museum in Gruyeres was near. In the final day of the conevention, Daniel one of the guys of Polymanga staff give me a little tour in Gruyeres and Giger Museum. To me, HR Giger it was very influential my father show me Alien when I was 3 or 4 years old, he told me "you like star wars? you know, space, monsters and that kind of stuff? well, maybe you will like this" (XD THANKS OLD MAN!) so be there looking is awesome original paintings and concept art for alien 1, 2, Poltergeist 2 and Speces was a really big moment to me ... oh! and later I eat the famous Gruyeres fondue Was a perfect day!

This is a little 1 hour warm up, trying to replicate his style in an original compo/design by me I hope you like it.

PSCS4/bamboo/1 hour/Music: Alpha - Vangelis.

Impressive with the symmetry and shading... truly great work.

The lack of lower jaw and small scars near the mouth remind me of a certain cyborg, but I'm not going to be one of those "YOUR ART LOOKS LIKE [X]" people.

Nice attempt. Nothing beats the original, though.

"Hard to see the bright side,it is"-something Yoda-esque I wanted to say.

The man who brought us that distinct visceral aesthetic or "biomechanical-ism",body horror "pozing" with sexuality sometimes (pun not intended) has passed away ppl.

Well all you makes of anime like Eva,all you sci-fi artists, all you dystopian biopunk a/o cyberpunks aspirants I hope you learned well from this man.You too ppl working apparently working on the sequel to Prometheus. If we DA's could gather up in a real life forum of some sort would anyone here be mroe up to now than ever to watch "HR Giger revealed" and talk about him and his work after.

When someone like this passes away,it sets a bar that has to be exceeded by another person. However I'm not to sure if anyone will be able to top Giger.Did he teach a/o show us all he could?.Many ppl have been influenced by him or imitated him after just like the fantasy genre has been doing for decades with Tolkien and Robert E.Howard but how many of those ppl knew Giger on face-to-face basis that he'd converse with them, feedback and then some?.Β

It's kinda why I personally sorta think that in the near future we might get a "pst-Giger" aesthetic that's less about sexually connatative organisms and more like alternate paths of evolutions recognizable irl creatures could take in the face of so much environmental destruction and ecological alternation (ex.interbreeding with GMO's) in the neat-ish future of a span of a few centuries.Β

Sorta like this vertebrata creatures with a things for fins and wings for moving thru fluids like air and water (cuz rising sea levels) like thisΒ  speculativeevolution.deviantar… + the pessimism in Margaret Atwoods dystopian "Madaddam" trilogy+"The future is wild" bookΒ

Another recent European and great contributor of pop culture from "Metal Hurlant" fame along with Moebius who's artistic remains will be remembered.

Great work man! Those... things... at the side of the face, what are they? I know that Giger(he is a wonderful artist) did put some... male anatomy in his works, so I was just wondering if there is anything related to that in this piece?
