lovely colors. the orange/purple opposites thing really works.
of course, i'm also impressed with the whole getting a good photo of a butterfly, let alone on obliginly colored flowers

Lovely shot. I was about to suggest a bigger aperture to throw the background slightly more but if that's the standard 300mm lens you can't do that. This really is a great pic - you've captured the details in the butterfly so well. Niiice...

Thank you very much
What lens would you recommend? I have only had the standard 18-55mm lens that came with the camera....I just very recently acquired the 70-300mm lens and although I do really really like it I must admit the shallow depth does tend to irratate me and also the fact that once again the aperature is still at 5.6....At least with my Sony Cyber-Shot I could change the aprerature but with the Canon I am stuck with that stupid 5.6

Like yourself I make do with the standard kit lens. You can get a 300mm f/2.8 and f/4 L series lens, but you'll be paying handsomely for the privilege. I want the 70-200mm f/2.8 though. That'd be a wonderful addition. Check out the full range at Canon's (Oz) website .

A wonderful capture really highlighting the beauty of the swallow tail. Love the colours and vibrancy of this. Very well done indeed.

oh, so beautiful!
you did very well for such a strong light, a lot of times it turns out too harsh, but you did excellent here!
i personally like the lady of the flowers a bit more, but that's just because i'm a sucker for blue sky

Thank you
Yeah I got really lucky cause the light was very harsh I'm not sure which I like better between the two...but, I would like to have them both hanging on my wall as companion pieces...I think they would compliment each other.

they'd look very nice together, i'm not sure what color the wall would be, since both the pictures have different colors, maybe a white, or some bright color, i'm not really one for matching wall colors
and you're welcome

Thank you so much Amazing what a new lens can help you do
and yeah I agree with you it is one of my best. I really love how this came out and it really transferred so well with how it really looked in person. I am loving the new lens it's a 70-300mm one before I only had the 18-55mm lens that came with the camera...it is like a whole new world has opened up with the possibilities with this lens...
