I love the way the direction of the light is making the wings almost transparent.

I'm with David. Again, I feel green-eyed. Oh wait, I am green-eyed to begin with, but let's just say that mine are greener than usual now.
So beautiful and perfect, Kirsten. The focus is amazing. So sharp and perfect. Love that butterfly and the flower is awesome!
We were at the grocery store the other day and on our way out, my daughters brought to my attention this beautiful black and white butterfly that was on the inside of the store's window. We knew it would die being in there but we could not save it. Made me sad. And of course, I did not have my camera with me.
It looked a lot like this one, but was black and white in color.

Thank you very much We have alot of them here but, they tend to be quite elusive and flighty. I was very pleased to find this one completely absorbed in that thistle

Just do it! It won't do it itself!
(That's my new motto as I try to fight procrastination. It seems to work a lot of the time!)

Great capture Kirsten. This particular butterfly hasn't been flying long, judging from the excellent condition of his wings. Usually, I only get to see them after their wings are damaged from constant fluttering. Very well done!

Thank you very much
The butterflies at this spot are all in very good condition....ooh and we even got to see a hummingbird moth there about a month and a half ago. None of my pics though from the hummingbird moth came out though such fast little buggers. But, I was quite extactic to find a hummingbird moth in my own front yard this past Saturday
and having my new lens really paid off as I got some great pics of it
Sorry for rambling on just there are so many insects the kids and I have read about and have not seen yet and one of my favorites was the hummingbird moth....(okay truth be told that are not very many insects that I don't like
) anyways thanks again
