Something occurred to me last night, What if after 20 years, Mei still regretted her choice to betray her friends at Tyler’s party? So in this, Maya noticed her mother getting upset about something. She asks her if she is alright to which Mei says no and decides to tell her daughter about something that happened 20 years ago. Before she and Miriam started dating, she attacked Tyler at his birthday party for saying nasty things about her mother, and Ming blames her friends for it, and she made the stupid decision to blame them for it. Then says she’s never gonna forgive herself for it, and starts to cry. But Maya tells her mom that everyone makes mistakes in life and the two hug, making her feel better. When Miriam got home from the store, Maya told her what happened. Miriam tells Mei that everything will be fine. Since that did happen 20 years ago, and Mei and Maya simply hug her knowing that they can get through it together as a strong family.
