Description
This is Cetan, the red tailed hawk. He is a mix of natural and unnatural markings and colors. He was drawn and colored by me. made him up and helped design him. He is for our comic. Yay. I used several references from google and such.He is clumsy so his feet are always splayed to keep him balanced.
I used to own a Red Tailed Hawk. It was cool.

At the Wildlife rehab center I volunteer at, there is a Red-tailed hawk named Cetan. She is almost completely red...

She is missing part of her wing...I think she was hit by a car...but now, we use her in presentations about animal rehabilitation, along with a few owls and two eagles.

I guess you couldn't really called it owned, more like held on to. But I like to pretend I'm special for holding onto a sick bird for a day. XD

Well, one day me and my dad were driving out to his house and I saw what looked like a large rodent sitting on the side of the road. I thought it looked wierd then forgot about it. On the way back I saw it was still there and realized it was a bird and told my dad to stop. He ADORES animals and we quickly jumped out of the car with a thin blanket and went to look at it. It didn't try to fly away it just jumped away from us. My dad wrapped it up in the blanket and we drove it back to his house. The bird sat at my feet and when he got out of the car, it got out of the blanket and flew on top of the steering wheel. I thought it was an osprey or just some generic hawk but I saw it had red feathers on its tail. So we took it to my mom's house to call my uncle who knows people who take care of wild animals. My dad let the hawk sit on a thick glove of his and it never tried to fly away. It was a sweet ol' thing. But it looked aweful. We didn't know if it was attacked, hit by a car, deseased or just old. We ended up having to keep it over night. The next morning we gave it to my uncle who drove it up to the Wild Animal Shelter. He died the next morning. I had named him Tobias after the animorph who was stuck as a red tailed hawk. I miss that old bird. I never even got to take a picture of him.

awwww... that's sad, but at least you guys brought it in for help, at least they tried helping the bird. ^w^ I've always wanted the miniature owls, apparently you can adopt them and have them as pets, there rlly cute. ^w^ but i also wanted to get a umbrella cockatoo, but they said it was too much to handle, lol so then me and my dad looked at some birds at their bird thing that they do every year and this parrot was beside us talking like a robot, lol and it was the african grey, so now my dad wants an african grey XD.mI already have my two lovebirds at home though, XD one of them is a pain in the next cause he keeps tipping the food bowl on purpase and my other bird get's mad at him for that XD. lolit's funny bet yet more of a mess i need to clean DX.

Birds are cool. I had a cockatoo but my sister brought him outside and he flew away. "Don't worry I have my thumb over his feet he can't-whoops!" We found him in a tree but it was too high to climb. Never saw it again. She was so embarassed. I had a parakeet but that was back when I knew nothing of animals and only wanted them because I could have one. Poor thing...his name was puffer. He had a crappy life. I still feel guilty for getting him. No child should ever have a pet unless its always in a public room like the living room and a parent is always there. Little kids are monsters. I would know. I was one...I feel bad now...
It didn't help that over the years my dad kept bringing strange pets home. Wild rabbits, snakes, tarantulas, scorpians, lizards, rats, dogs, cats. My house would be a zoo if they were all still alive. Now I just have the cats. My dog was stolen, my rabbit was stolen and my other one died, one snake I let go, the other died, tarantula died but that was my fault I didn't know what to feed it, we didn't buy it my dad caught it, my scorpian died but he lived a long happy life, my lizard died but lived a long happy life, my rats died but lived a semi long semi happy life and my other cats died from being hit by cars. I have 2 of their kittens here though.
I suck with pets. If these cats die, I'll never get another one. My mom says I have a pet curse that any animal I touch,dies. Which sucks cause I wanted a cheetah XD

DX yeah i know how you feel about a bird flying out, i had a different lovebird once, he was my favorite and he is normally outside with me, i would have him on my shoulder and i bike down full speed the hill, not once did anything hapen to him outside, until one day i took him outside and i went go see some of are puppies back in the pen, and he got scared and flew on a small tree, then my dad tried getting him down thorwing a stick and i kept yelling in tears to stop, then he flew on are house and then i had to throw a tennis ball on top and he flew on a pine tree, i made my sister's friend go up there, but he couldn't get any higher, all day i was sitting there and took out his cage, calling him all the time, he flew in the forest and he did one call of a chirp, whenever i call his name we would answer, but then after.. i never heard of him anymore, everyday i was outside day and night, not eating or drinking, just sitting beside the cage and calling him..

Oh wow, I'm really sorry. Poor birds. I hate that animals die so easily and so quickly. Oh I don't mean like its bad that they die quickly and peacefully, I mean its bad that they have such short life spans and they die more easily than humans. I miss my cats very much and my poor bunny. He was such an unusual color! He had a peach underside, a bright orange body and black leopard spots. What kind of rabbit is that?! It was like something you would see on here, something unnatural. I loved him but the person who gave him to me hadn't taken care of him and he had bad heat stroke. Since the day I got him he could never walk right and could never get enough water. He just up and died one day.
My other rabbit was stolen by the bratty neighbor girls. They would sneak over while we were gone and take her out of her cage and play with her but never put her back. We found her the first time in their yard. The second time they took her out and we never found her again. They tried to steal the leopard rabbit too but my mom cought them and the cage lid fell on one of their heads and cut her real bad! lol Loser! Thats what she gets, she is lucky we didn't call the cops. Nasty little maggots.
But thats real sad. I'm so sorry about your birds, I really am. And its no problem leaving long messages, I started it!

lol ^^ yeah it does suck for animals and their short like expansion, even some humans have the same problem like not being rude here but i think they were people sorter than humans and has a life spannd around 20 years, like not even, it's sad for them as well. i had a black rabit that got kiild from one of my dog's, she was such an awesome rabbit, lol same thing with are neibor's, their kid is insane, he once took are baby ducks out and when we got home, his dog rip their head's off and i didn't even noticed, my sister saw them on the ground panicing, then when we got baby goats, we fed them with milk and they were still babies, we kept them in a box for now till the got older, and the kid start's harassing them, taking his stick and pocking them really hard, my mom caught him and she drive to his house and showed the stick to the mother and warned the mother to keep the kid off are yeard, than before we moved into are built house, he took are gasoline and pord it onto are drive way, and we were gonna start making a fire roasting some marshmello's, until me and my other two older sister's smelt gas, and we checked the gass tank, and it was empty. my dad got pissed at him and yet again warned them. aparently he abuses animals, he even abuses his own animals, i felt sorry for his dog, their dog never goes on are yard at all! and one night their dog ran to are house on are balcony right in the corner shaking. i felt sorry for her and gave her a bowl of dog food. then next mroning she wasn't there. it was sad. yeah i felt depressed about my birds, my very first bird a a cockatail, he was already an adult and i got him for my b-day, he died of old age, but he was fun XD, then my sister got a budgie at the time when i had my cokcatail, they both kept playing ^w^, then her bird died of old age as well, then i had a peachface lovebird, apparently he chocked on the those ground seeds for baby bird's and stuff, looked like hamster food, my sister keeps saying he snapped his neck from the cage. then i got the other birds. gee i feel pitty for them sometimes out of no were, like flash back memories and stuff, it really bother's me sometimes when my family always mentions about it. lol

Thanks! She was the one who came up with the idea of the hawk, I'm glad I got to draw it. I've never drawn a proper bird before.

^w^ well you did an amazing job! even though i LOVE birds and draw them all the time, I can never draw a bird as good as you ^w^. In my novel I'm hoping to have a sparrow in it for fun. Sparrows are awesome but my favorite is the Horned owl XD.

Its in the works right now! My friend has started page 2, I have to finish the last panel and the first page will be done. My friend does the lineart and the story, I do the coloring and the shading, and someone else does the backgrounds.

Meh, you just have to practice a lot, look at a lot of different poses and just keep drawing. Making comics is really hard at first but it is SO worth it when you see your characters "moving" on the page. I'm actually making a one pager for my hero The Torrent for a contest for someone. I almost gave up because it takes place in a city but then I just went to google and looked up pictures at buildings and used them as references! Its time consuming making one but when its all done, its a great reward!

They are suprisingly easy if you have reference pictures. Look up pictures in google and really look at the birds. See where their legs are, how big their chests are, how many feathers (primary secondary and such) are on the wings and so on. References rock!
