I interpret him as a goofy kind of guy seeing his personality description in the wikia, and he has Master Roshi's glasses i thought maybe kishi wanted him to have Roshi's personality a bit.
Yeah, the only female friend she has is Kurenai (seeing the two often become cameos together), but Kurenai was too occupied with Asuma to hang out with AnkoΒ

Ohh, that coolness is just an act to impress the juniors. all of his close friends knew that he is a dork LOLOLOL *HEADCANON*. I once saw in a game where he told shikamaru or naruto that he wore glasses to seem cool. He kept trying to make naruto/shikamaru say that he's cool. Lol such a dork.
I think Kurenai and Anko are friends, there's one in the manga when Kakashi asked if she was in a date with Asuma, she answered "No, i'm just here to pick up dangos for Anko." well, at least close enough to do favors to each other. + there's one in the game where the two of them relaxing in the onsen together to fish out Jiraiya.Β
