The only thing that's really bothering me in this one is the hands. Usually you do so well on them, but this time...Methinks they ought to be angled out a bit more, as they way they are at the moment is none too comfortable, and may be contributing to his rather unpleasant mood. (I just tried it. ) Your shading is good, but the others have already told you that, though i find it odd that you don't make your weapons shiny, especially on the edges, since generally that's the one place that is shiny on well used sharp objects. That's just a personal taste thing, mind. Also, while you've paid a lot of attention and put a lot of time into shading his body, his clothes, particularly the kilt, seem to be slightly lacking in that respect, as they do not appear to enjoy the same shadow depth as, say, the underside of the arms. You're gonna get at least minimal shadows from the belt, bag and upper body, since with that way of holding things he'd almost have to be hunched over, I think.*

That reminds me, I forgot to remind you about reflected light.

You'd be surprised at how much it can improve a drawing to leave just a little bit of light at the very edge of shadow.

Ya keep going with the shading.. your starting to pull out the 3 dimensions now... good good!
now take it even a little deeper... more depth to it.. go dark to light in you shadows... they have depth to them

GH-MoNGo In reply to SiteLine6 [2007-01-17 03:21:43 +0000 UTC]

well hope it helps ^^ it maybe not what your after with this type of work.. but If you want to get more 3d with your then this help pull your masses and volume out of your shapes gradients in the shadows will help.. light can bounce off of other things and into your shadows.. giving them a sense of depth

Nephenee In reply to GH-MoNGo [2007-01-17 14:30:40 +0000 UTC]

How do you slice out an eye?

I mean, I can see how you would scoop one out or poke it out , but because of the depth of the socket and the nose nad the cheekbone and the forehead being in the way...

Was it a very tiny orc that crept up on him whilst he was asleep?
