Description pretty much sums up my work this week at work. Tea waterfall, register destroyed in worst location. Chased cars over long distances to give forgotten food or cards. Overly busy when short staffed. Its been interesting. Im tired. XD

All of these were everyday things, not just one thing a day. Though the cars were only two days of the week. o:
What all happened in your day?

I cant remember it all right now, But I do remember calling some one back in for their change, getting swamped with customers, the receipt printer broke and the toilet getting plugged and overflowing. I was the only person around and there were a lot of costumers so i really couldn't do much about it. It was a crazy day at the gas station though for sure.

That pain, i really feel it. We had problems like that many times at our store. A register in drivethrough broke right before a rush inside and outside, our toilets have gone haywire and clogged, unstaffed problems. But it keeps the days interesting though. Though, as far as interesting goes, I rather stick to nice conversation with others that choas at the worst time.

Do gas stations actually get busy? I never see more than fiv or so people in one at a time xD

You would be surprised, we have a sale on fountain drinks and icees, Then you have people coming in getting goodies plus lottery and tobacco (dot smoke or chew kids its supper exspensive!) products.I also work at a gas station near soccer and baseball fields sopleople come in and get stuff before and after games.

Cherish the time you have to be carefree and no real responsibility. School years are the best, though a lot of people go "whatevs, you're lying" when i say that. I know im not entirely into the real world and 100% on my own yet, but i already wish those years never ended.
Though, at the same time, i really love my job (most days) and the people I work with now more than the students at my school. Mixed feels, i suppose.

GhastlyRune In reply to Captain-Dark-Kitty [2014-06-21 00:14:34 +0000 UTC]

Apparently I have dedication, as many custmers tell me after a run. But when a customer leaves a bag or something behind either cuz they werent paying attention or the person on window wasnt, i often take the forgotten item and make sure they get it. Our store strives for "secondmile service", and im already in the set of mind of "i want you to have everything and not complain to me later".

The concept of a job isnt something hard to get, so being younger or without shouldnt be a problem. Go to work, work X amount of hours, get paid X money per hour worked, go home. XD

GhastlyRune In reply to fluffykitten44 [2014-06-24 22:50:45 +0000 UTC]

thats not good. Have you talked with your employer? If i didnt get work in a month and having not asked that time off, i would start getting the feeling I was let go but not informed properly. Thats really weird though.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

fluffykitten44 In reply to GhastlyRune [2014-06-24 22:54:53 +0000 UTC]

i pretty much asked every week, they just dont give many hours. so now i have a job where im barely scheduled to work and most places have already done their hiring for the summer.

i guess i cant say i havent worked their in a month now, actually. i just got back a while ago from it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GhastlyRune In reply to fluffykitten44 [2014-06-24 23:01:10 +0000 UTC]

So they just arent scheduling you enough? Thats irritating. I had that happen to me a little while ago. I have to be 35 to 40 hours at my place, but they were giving me like 17 or 20. But my place is pretty understanding, so it was an easy fix.
I wouldnt give up entirely on looking for a new place if thats what you are wanting. Even if most places finished their summer hires, that doesnt mean you might not find that one or two who are still looking for people.

yup.... i thought i could get some pocky at least, because theres no stores around me that actually sell it, and then i remembered the only store in the mall that sold it went out of business....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GhastlyRune In reply to fluffykitten44 [2014-06-24 23:26:31 +0000 UTC]

its hard to find it at times. And at a good price too. At least, it is for me. Sorry you couldnt find any pocky around you. Maybe somewhere has something similar?

fluffykitten44 In reply to GhastlyRune [2014-06-24 23:28:55 +0000 UTC]

i live across the street from a dollar store, so normally i can just grab a candy bar. as fro something similar, i wouldnt really know of anything, actually.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GhastlyRune In reply to fluffykitten44 [2014-06-24 23:33:28 +0000 UTC]

I do the same, usually. Cant go wrong with a candy bar.
I actually prefer Yan-Yan over Pocky. Yan-Yan is pretty much the same thing as Pocky, except they are thicker and you dip them into the chocolate or whatever flavor, instead of it pre-covered for you. There are also lots of Pocky knock-offs floating around, i just cant remember the names. But they are all pretty good, I've had most of them.

fluffykitten44 In reply to GhastlyRune [2014-06-24 23:35:31 +0000 UTC]

ill have to try and find them, most stores around me dont sell anything like that!

GhastlyRune In reply to fluffykitten44 [2014-06-24 23:45:46 +0000 UTC]

For me, its yan-yans and hello pandas at Target, and pocky and knock-offs at Walmart and H-Mart. But thats just around me, im not sure whats over there.

fluffykitten44 In reply to GhastlyRune [2014-06-24 23:49:05 +0000 UTC]

my walmart doesnt sell pocky, and the targets are just too far out of the way to bother.

GhastlyRune In reply to Hiyukee [2014-06-20 22:00:04 +0000 UTC]

I was very close for the first one, and i caught all those after that. Im pretty fast and easily go 0 to 60 in emergancies so i catch most my cars.

Hiyukee In reply to GhastlyRune [2014-06-20 23:02:45 +0000 UTC]

Man, you got some forgetful people 'round there haha!
0 to 60 in how many seconds? XP
But that's awesome. I remember running 10 miles per hour and bein' proud of myself

Tell me about it. Sometines i babysit when i bag food for the window person. :l
in a FLASH! like, once I hear yelling, im often turned into the hero cuz people know im a fast emergancy runner and one of the few willing to do so.
i got that feels before too. I ran as fast as my mom's car when i was younger amd beat her home. though, she probably wasnt going fast at all lol

Tea and lemonade are our "fuckin splash everything!!!" products. Everytime. The tea was so determined wednesday that it broke a register and sent us into a difficult hell. In the fucking drivethrough. (A.k.a. worse possible place EVER!)

Turoxy In reply to GhastlyRune [2014-06-20 22:09:52 +0000 UTC]

I'm glad we don't have a drive through XD that would suck so much, we already get enough idiots in the one register we have, and ours freezes sometimes (we only got ONE) so if it breaks we need to take everything MANUALY

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GhastlyRune In reply to Turoxy [2014-06-21 00:34:09 +0000 UTC]

You dont want a drivethrough. Majoeity of people who go through are impacient, snotty, or just natural born pricks. And its also extra stress, trying to be fast but work as a team. And taking orders manually in a drivethrough, let me tell you how much of a nightmare it is in a small rush.

Turoxy In reply to GhastlyRune [2014-06-21 00:35:56 +0000 UTC]

GhastlyRune In reply to Turoxy [2014-06-21 00:40:16 +0000 UTC]

Same here. Its the waiting, most people cant wait long in their busy lifes. I've gotten my share of yellings and harsh words because they came in on a 12:00 saturday lunch rush and expect me to be superhuman. Its the people that make me want to quit food jobs, but its the crew that makes ne want to stay.
