I decided to make a compilation of reminders for me to think about and consider when designing characters for a story, and decided to share it with y'all! (the Quirks List is ongoing if, y'know, you wanna contribute in the comments ^^ )All of the above "must haves" for character are formatted for an "adding characters to story" way of writing, but can easily be flipped for an "adding story to characters" way. Main characters can of course survive quite well in a story without all of those things covered, but I've found that he/she won't be as freakishly entertaining as he/she would be with them.

This is really great. I'm so keeping this as a reff for myself while I finish refising my GN script.
I agree with everything but the Protag and antag having to be opposites. Sometimes it works great when they're similar. For instance Prof Xavier and Magneto are awesome opponents because they are almost the same, just seen through different lenses.
Everything else though is golden.

yeah, well, he ended up being oh so much fluff. he was useless. Now i can spend my time focusing on just one main protagonist AND i'll be able to play around with some tension between Pade and Ariaxyn of the male/female variety
